Best account for my savings.
I have an ISA with Barclays which I have one thousand pounds in, and 500 hundred pounds in a Lloyds easy saver account. I have read that now it is better to save with a current account rather than an ISA, and was wondering if I should move all my money into my Lloyds easy saver? I have a poor credit rating so am not able…

Advice on Current Accounts
I am trying to setup some current accounts for my savings that currently sit in an ISA (interest rate is about to fall). I want to transfer £20k to a Santander 123 current account and £5000 to a Lloyds Club current account and probably stick the rest (about 14k) in the Santander ISA as I don't want to deal with a dozen…

Investment simulations possible?
Hi everyone, I'm wondering is there somewhere I can easily simulate two or more competing investments over a period of time? i.e. have LS 100 versus my DIY selection of three funds over the last year for example? Thank you

Bank of Scotland Vantage current account
Hi all, I've been doing some checking but want to confirm the following: - Regarding these accounts and getting the interest....does the £1k funding have to be external or can it be from another BoS Vantage current account? Also, can you still open three of these...none of which are joint? Many thanks in advance. Lisa

UK Commercial Property funds - impact on choice of which platform provider to use
Not sure if been mentioned before but if you are comparing costs of platforms then an additional thing to factor in is whether you intend to hold UK commercial property funds within ISA/SIPP. A lot of these funds have now converted to a new structure called a Property Authorised Investment Fund (PAIF) which allows tax…

Fixed rate account with ICICI bank
I have a fixed rate account with ICICI bank. I need access to the money before it's maturity date and I was always under the impression that with fixed rate accounts you would simply be penalized with a reduced interest rate, should you withdraw the money early. After a rather frustrating phone call with ICICI bank just…

P/E Ratios
Perusing this forum of late, it has come to my attention that little old P/E ratio is being abused .... ;) You need to remember that P/E ratios are inextricably linked to fundamendals. Blindly comparing P/E ratios across countries or between companies is not going to be of much use. For example, how are you dealing with…

Fidelity China Special Sits Price Rise
Has anyone noticed the price rise on these shares? Looks like over 15% in the last week or so. I've not seen any news that seems relevant for the reason, any ideas why the sudden jump - other than I sold shares in it a week ago....

Pensioner bonds
Not sure if this is the right place for this. But looking at options to re-invest mum's £10k and have considered these. Can you tell me whether as a 71 year old retired lady she is classed as a tax payer? Sorry, really have no clue :D If she is either a non-taxpayer or tax payer, can she claim back interest paid as…

Best type of account for small short term savings?
Hi I'm a bit confused by a lot of the bank jargon when researching accounts and some of the t's and c's. I'm not at all well up on ISA's for example. Myself and my OH are trying to save for a holiday late this year and also to do some home improvements. So we'll be trying to save perhaps between 250 and 600 pounds by both…

700k – the best place for it
I'm soon to receive 700k through a house sale and am wondering as to the safest pace for it which will allow me access with the best interest rate. I've no plans to use the cash immediately which means that I'm not averse to putting it somewhere with more limited / restricted access, however I'm not looking to have it tied…

Another takeover?
General Question on takeovers really, prompted by the proposed takeover of BG by Shell. I can see how the 2 companies might benefit from joining together, (and how the directors who are recommending it might benefit even more from being promoted to running a larger company without having to show the aptitude to grow it.;)…

Pension reform impact on markets?
I haven't seen any of the press that I read make any comment on the likely impact of the pension reforms on the FTSE. Does anyone have a view on this - or links to any good articles? My gut feeling is that there will be an outflow of money this summer as people withdraw cash from their pensions and that will cause the FTSE…
