Updated Regular Savings?
I am a complete Forum newbie so please forgive if this is not news but has anyone noticed that you can get 2.5% for saving £1000 per month with nationwide? Seems a good place to put instant access money that is languishing in some lesser interest accounts. Unless I've got it completely wrong! Any comments?

Gold Sovereigns
Probably not the right forum, but hopefully some of you learned folks can help. Am looking to buy a small number of gold sovereigns as gifts. Monthly pay-in requirement. Loophole?
Hi there, I notice that a lot of the best-paying savings accounts (santander 123 etc) require a £500 / £1000 pay-in per month. This requirement is presumably to ensure that your wages are paid into the account and therefore the account is your main current account. However, I only have a lump-sum to invest and have no…

ISA's v Savings Accounts
Both my wife and I are retired and I am receiving a works pension and we both have ISA's. I am looking at ways to increase our monthly income and am wondering if it would be better to move our ISa savings into a savings account that pays the interest monthly into our current account. We are not interested in increasing our…

Help! ISA transfer puzzle...
My wife has a NatWest ISA whose interest rate will drop from 2.0pc to 1.16 in January. She has a Coventry non-ISA account so asked about transferring the NatWest ISA to the new 2.5pc Coventry Reward ISA. Callcentre person said she would have to open a new ISA account AND make a deposit to start it. We thought the transfer,…

Finding Independent Whole of Market Advisor
Has anyone managed to find a good independent whole of market advisor recently? If so how did you do it. I have had a disappointing experience with one financial advisor whose service was poor and who gave me inaccurate information (they used to call themselves IFA but since RDR are now chartered financial planners). I am…

Allocation of Halifax shares in 1997
I received shares in the Halifax demutualisation in 1997, some from a savings account of my own, and some from two accounts that were my childrens. ETF - Stamp Duty
Just seen this on the BBC from the Autumn statement today. I'm looking for more clarification but does this now mean you can buy ETFs without stamp duty or the shares inside them no longer attract SD? If it means investors no longer pay SD then that could be quite a boost to ETFs compared to unit trusts and investment…

Affordable IFA advice
I've recently had to take early retirement through ill health. This means I've only got a small lump sum: £30K. I really need to get some advice on how to invest it safely and help it grow plus some help with some tiny stakeholder pensions. I've had initial conversations with two IFAs. One wants me to invest most of my…
