Cash ISA v Reducing mortgage (long term impact)
Usually it's obvious what we should do with any 'spare' cash, reduce debts before accumulating savings, but I'm not sure in this instance. I've saved a fair amount in my Cash ISA ever since these were introduced, and move my fund pretty much every year to get the best rate. I'm currently getting 3.3%, but that ends in…

Where to £110K?
My family and I are relocating and have sold our house. We will be renting for a year and so have approx £110K to invest one way or another. Once we are settled in the new area we will be looking to buy so the investment will probably only be for a year, but may be a little less. I would like to be able to access the money…

So much for €100,000 protection - Cyprus bailout
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21797888 Ouch! That's a real kick in the gonads for prudent savers. I'm assuming UK savers with Cyprus banks should check who protects their savings. Some will be FSCS, which I'm guessing is fine. What about the others?

Bank paid out my ISA to my partner, by mistake & without permission.
Hey MSE, I'm actually posting this on behalf of my Mum and her partner, I will explain the scenario as best as I can: please tell me if you need more information or if I've posted in the wrong place, I'm a noobie here! My Mum's partner, 'Joe' for simplicity, received some of his pension a couple of years ago in a lump sum,…

Asia Pacific - Moderately adventurous or too risky?
I have some money I'd like to put in the best possible medium term vehicle. Having divided it into portions and used the cash ISA allowance for both me and the kids, I'm thinking about a stocks and shares ISA. Am thinking a passive fund with low TER. So a tracker for security but something more exciting than the FTSE All…

N&P reg saver - 'bonus payment'
Mine has just matured. Well, it matures tomorrow but looks like they've paid out today. I paid in the full amount of £250/month. I got interest of £34.50 net (makes me wonder why did i bother as i thought £3k would've got me more than that). Also a bonus payment of £20.70 net. What's this all about? Are they just being…

Can I have more than one share ISA?
I have a share ISA with broker A. In April can I take out a new share ISA with broker B, but leave the other one running? If so, how would the existing ISA with Broker A work? I assume I wouldn't be able to add any more money to it, but that I would still be able to buy and sell shares within it?

First time Share Buyer - into a growing business

What questions do I need to ask though before committing to buying the shares? Sorry if I sound dumb but my friends who are already good share-buyers don't seem to want to share their…

Any Decent Savings Accounts (not ISA)?
Are there any half decent savings accounts out there, which are actual savings accounts? It seems my ISA deposits must be in by May of this year so I can't regularly put money away there, plus I may need to save more than what is allowed. I'd rather not have a normal current account. My current HSBC savings account is at…

savings rates and rate of inflation
I'm trying to clarify the best way to try and accrue some decent interest on our 'nest egg'. As I understand it, the current rate of inflation is around 2.7%. I've been looking at easy access accounts, investing for 1 year and the interest rates are about 2.1 -2.2 % If the rate of inflation is greater than the interest…
