"Cash" unit trusts - why?!?
While researching investments, I've noticed a few funds labelled as "cash", such as Aberdeen Cash and BlackRock Cash. As far as I can tell, they just put all their money into a range of bank accounts and return about 0.5% per annum. They're not small either: BlackRock cash is valued at almost £700m. Why do these funds…

Hello everyone, I am about to move into the UK permanently from Mexico. I have around £40,000 in savings that I want to use in the UK, perhaps towards starting a business. Poor savings interest rates
Base rate is 0.5% and the prediction is that this will be reduced before there is any increase. However, the main reason why higher rate investment accounts have disappeared, is the Government's creation of its own bank, the sole purpose of which is to feed £biliions of new easy money to the High Street banks, who…

1st time saver, saving for house deposit, should I be that het up about interest rate
Hi, I'm a first time saver, spent the last few years clearing credit card debt which should dissappear in Feb this year when a work share option closes. My next goal is to start saving for a house deposit, so short term goal rather than long term. So from Feb onwards I should be able to put away £500-800 every four weeks,…

Buying shares in a US company from UK
What is the best way to go about buying shares in a US company, say for example Apple (who runs in nasdaq)? Is there a penalty for the currency conversion? Does it need to be a US broker? If so, who is recommended? Tried doing some research, but did not find anything concrete. Thanks for any advice pushed forward!

Do YOU send your driving licence / passport off on applications?
Was looking at setting up a Bank of India account but they are insisting on having an original passport or driving licence sent to them (as well as a utility bill, bank statement or local authority bill). I'm not chancing my passport (or driving licence) in the post. Is it just me that feels this way?

Hi, I would like some advice from the experienced investors on this forum.
