Investing in Motor Vehicles
I recently came across a company offering a very attractive investment opportunity. They offer 10% return - which is pretty massive these days - on a secured loan to them. They rent out motor vehicles, and their proposal is that you lend them the money to buy the vehicle, and they rent it out. Your money is secured against…

KCom dividend
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have just registered at capitashareportal.com to have my KCom dividend paid directly into my bank account in future. I assumed there would be no admin fee for this but now am not so sure. It looks to me as if the fee only applies if you transfer money out of the country but ????????…

Questions about Halifax Reward Current Account
I have my savings with Halifax but as many of you probably already know, they also operate a Reward Current Account which pays you £100 to switch your current account plus £5 every month when you pay in £1000. I read the T&Cs, and could see no mention of this BUT - is there anything to stop me transferring £1000 in from my…

Saving for first time
Hi all I have £1000 saved but in my normal current account. I want to put it into a separate savings account and am unsure what is the best option. I was thinking of an e savings account with Lloyds as that's who I bank with and I want easy access to my cash if needed. The other option was a cash isa but I haven't got a…

Launch of fund - when to get in??
A couple of days ago Fidelity launched a new global dividend fund. I rang them and asked how they overcame the launch costs. Surely the fund manager would see funds coming in, would buy shares at a cost (less than I pay but still a cost), and thus unless the market was moving rapidly upwards must show an initial loss. I…

Inflation linked savings vs Fixed term bond (or similar)
I have £12,000 to invest for my 16 year old son (non taxpayer). He is not entitled to it until he's 21, so it can be put away for 5 years (he's planning further education after school so not sure how that will affect any tax implications in the future). In simplistic terms (please :o ) how are interest rates and inflation…
