Lump Sum compensation
I have recently been offered compensation for an injury a lump sum of 120k. I have however been given the option to receive these funds spread out over 15 years. My question is which option is better in the long term as I will have to live of this for the rest of what was my working life? The amount I believe is not…

Historic Value of Money
Is there any way that I can find out the historic value of money? If I had £1000 in 1989, what would be it's value in 1991 and in 1993? In other words, are there any tables sitting somewhere on a website that would enable me to make such calculations?

Centrica up for grabs?
I've just taken a call from a very nice chap called Wayne representing the Rothridge Consulting Group based in New York It would appear that if I sign and return a non-disclosure agreement and provide lots of personal information then their client will buy my Centrica shares for a tidy sum. I am over the moon and already…

Investing in funds, some outside ISA
Just need some confirmation hopefully as all the reading I do still leaves me with doubts. I am using a S&S and cash ISA. However I have other dosh in various funds (with fidelity for example). * Am I right in thinking there is only tax liability if I sell and take the cash (ie. a transfer leads to no tax)? * That if…

My investment strategy - what do you think?
Hi all, I was just wondering what, if any, feedback or tips anyone has with my savings strategy? I'm 36 years old, single with no children, renting a flat in London on my own. After rent and all bills and outgoings are paid I am left with around £900 spare each month. Out of this £900, £150 per month goes into a pension,…

0% interest but I feel good
Not strictly a savings topic but i felt that i had to share with you a site that i found when i was (unusually) browsing the charities forum. www.lendwithcare.org allows you to make loans of £15 or more to entrepreneurs in developing countries to help them start or develop a business. There is no interest and they have a…

Investment ideas needed as money in the bank is pointless
What are peoples ideas on where to invest to get a decent return. I'm thinking low-medium risk and 5-10% return. Fair Deal from banks and no obstacals or move account
I feel compelled to say this as the banks do have a duty to their customers. The banks have adopted an attitude of preying on the weak stupid and those who cannot afford to be preyed upon. They rely on individual’s stupidity and put obstacles in the way to make banking more profitable for them selves. Banks make 65% of…

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm currently living overseas and plan to return to the UK around May 2012 after 14 years away. I've got a nice little cushion of savings to help me with the return to the UK and am quite likely to find work in my chosen field which will provide housing so there won't be a big…
