ISA - Question
Hello everyone, I'm a complete novice in the world of savings and just wanted to ask, perhaps stupidly, if the ISAs work by adding each year to the ISA you already have and thus each year getting a larger amount in interest due to the increasing size of the lump sum you have saved. For example: Last year I saved £3000 at…

I have bought a few shares in the summer sell off and want to start investing more of the cash I have. However I do not want too many individual shares and some of what I would like are not cheap anyway. So have decided I should go down the route of a mix of funds and probably investment trusts. FirstlyI have been thinking…

Saga Fixed rate savings
Just opened a 3 year fixed 4% with Saga last month which was withdrawn this week (heres me thinking just in time) then they go and bring out a 4.2% 3 year fixed rate today. So much for doom and gloom on the savings front. My 5 year 5.1% (3 years to go) was still a good move I think.

Automated savings - how to invest £50 a month?!
I am keen to establish a regular savings plan and automate payments into a savings plan as soon as I get paid via standing order. Initially the amount invested is only likely to be small (circa £50 a month), but I will look to increase this as my debt reduces and I make savings in other areas. How and where would you…

Allied Irish Bank (GB)
My dad is thinking of putting a largish sum into AIB's 1 year bond which is paying 3.40%. He is a non taxpayer. Has anyone experience of what they're like to deal with? I know there was a bit of a problem with Irish banks and I'm not sure they are covered by the compensation system. I suppose as they are "GB", they should…
