Bad investment advice given by bank
I met with the financial advisor at Alliance & Leicester on several occasions. Based on this chaps advice I decided to invest 50% of my ISA into FTSE investment for 5 1/2 years and the other 50% went into a super ISA paying 5.5% interest. Total investment £25,000. I signed a number of forms completed by the advisor on the…

Worth buying a tracker?
I've got about £3500 in an ISA that is paying a poor rate of interest (0.9%). I was going to transfer it to another ISA, but I'm considering putting into a FTSE tracker fund instead. It would be a long term investment - at least a couple of years, and I'm unlikely to need the money suddenly as I have some cash reserves to…

What to do with house sale cash when not buying immediately
We are in the process of selling our home but probably won't be buying right away for various reasons. We would therefore have an amount of around £300k sitting in the bank and were wondering how we could make that work for us for, say, three months. We already have all the ISAs that we are allowed up to date. Any advice…
