It all started on the 6/4/10 when I phoned Barclays to transfer my Golden ISA to their Golden ISA issue 2. The woman at Barclays said "you cant transfer unless you open a current account". I reminded her that I had a current account with Barclays untill they closed it just weeks after using it to open the Golden ISA the…

How does she go about finding out whether she has to pay tax or not? The point came up when i was talking about ISAs to her & then…

Closing an ISA
I know the golden rule is to never close an ISA but transfer it, but is there any major reason why not if its a relatively small amount of money? My husband has an ISA from last year with Barclays currently paying 2.55% and there's just under £1500 in it. We have both opened A+L ones at 3.5% for this years contributions. I…

£1000 to invest for son - where?
Hi, I've been given £1000 to invest for my son for University - he's 14 now so it will potentially only be saved for 4 years. Is it best to put it in an ISA in my name, or is there another option? Don't mind if it's in my name or his, whatever gives the best return. :money: Many thanks!

I have more than £5000 to put into savings, and already have a First Direct ISA which pays 3% interest until November 2010. I could fill up my ISA allocation immediately but recently read on this website about the Santander saver for first time buyers. This pays 5% and you can deposit up to £5000 and then regular savings…

£200-£250 a month saving ideas
Hi all, I'm looking to put somewhere between £200 and £250 a month (exact figure undecided) and wondering what accounts out there are good? Not too fussed about having to give a notice period for withdrawals, but would like the flexibility to make an extra payment if I'm feeling flush.... Thoughts? :D

Lost Share Certificate in Novera
Hi, I was a shareholder in "Novera Energy", this company was recently taken over by "Infinis". Unfortunately I have lost my share certificate for Novera. The registrars handling the takeover say I can't get the takeover proceeds without paying 74 pounds for an indemity. Does anyone know if a share certificate/ indemity is…

Where is the best account to save £10,000?
Hello, I'd be grateful for any advice. I have £10,000 that I'd like to save in the best possible/ highest rated account. I've already saved this year's ISA allowance. I do not need instant access to the £10,000 so could lock it away for a few years. Thank you in advance. Scotty

Unusual (perhaps) query about the AA online saver
I applied for the AA online savings account at 2.(something)% interest. After 1year the interest drops. It turns out i shouldn't have applied for this at all, or at least not yet, simply because one of my LLoyds TSB accounts will fund my ISA, and the other one still has 2k which can be deposited to make the 7k of the…
