Missold investment with pension funds
Hi, This is my first time posting on here and basically it is because I don't know where to start. My Dad retired a few years ago and received a large lump sum of money. Being a fellow who has never had any money to "deal with" he has no knowledge of the financial sector and sought advice from an independent financial…

Want to retire early - where to begin??
Hello all, I have been lurking for some time on many of the boards here and wondered if I could ask for some advice please? Like many people on here, I have come to the decision that I certainly don’t want to be working full-time, over even part-time right up until state pension age, whenever that may be by the time I get…

Defined Benefits pension pots...
The final salary schemes are pretty easy to understand as far as the pension payable at the retirement date, and all the risk regarding the investment returns is taken by the employer. But, at some point , a value of the fund has to be made because of the entitlement to a 25% yax free lump sum. So my question is, how do…

How much money have I lost on my pension?
Hello, I recently requested a transfer into my work's occupational pension scheme. For various reasons, due to my incompetence, and I have beaten myself up about this already, I didn't complete the transfer in the three month period. My initial quote (and these are rough figures for illustration purposes) was something…

Enter drawdown now or after April?
Sorry another question. What are the pros and cons of entering capped drawdown now, to use this years personal allowance against waiting until the new rules come in to effect in April, but losing this years allowance? I recall a post by JamesD on the difference, but can't find it now.

Voluntary NI contributions for non-UK citizen
I've checked on the .gov.uk website and can't find answer so I'm hoping someone on here will know - can a non-UK citizen who hasn't lived in the UK for part of the time make voluntary NI contributions? My wife is Taiwanese, she studied in the UK from 2007 - 2011, working part-time for some of this time, then returned to…

Was I contracted out?
Just a quick question. I need to find out if I have ever been contracted out. I have a statement from DWP dated Feb2014 which indicates an additional state pension of £32.91, payable on retirement, but also says that this could be lower if I was contracted out. I don't recall contracting out and I don't have any funds…

Nest Pensions - Transfer out not possible
So I have a Nest pension from a job a couple of years back. I see that the contributions fee is a bit expensive compared to another option I'd like to go with, so I'm never go to contribute again. I think I'd rather just transfer it to another scheme. Here's the kicker - you can't.. Didn't read that before I signed up for…

"Flat rate" state pensions - deception exposed
I heard on the Today programme that the figures for the new state pension will not be as stated by the government over recent years. I have known this for a fair while but I'm sure plenty of people won't and will have taken the misleading info at face value. Ministers had promised to replace today's means-tested state…

If I have no other income until 65 but decide to draw yearly upto my tax free allowance from the remaining pot, will those amounts also be tax free as the allowance suggests? Thanks.
