My wife and I will both be reaching retirement age before the new rules come into force. However we seem to remember that the wife's pension would increase once the husband has reached retirement age as long as the husband was fully paid up with NI? Does this still apply? My wife was paying the married woman's contribution so is now on reduced pension.

yes, she should get 60% if she is currently getting less.0

She actually takes home £303 per month at the moment and I reach retirement age next January.0

Which is just over 60% of the basic pension of £1130
-
So she may not get a rise?
Does she need this pension, or do you earn enough for you both to live on? she could get 10.4% more for every year she defers and she is allowed to defer now even after taking it?0 -
A Category B pension (see link) is worth £67.80.
You say that your wife receives state pension of £303 a month - a "thirteen month year"?
This would indicate a pension of over £75 a week which is more than a Cat B pension.0 -
