Deferring and the 2015 State Pension Changes
Those of us reaching SPA at the end of 2015 will be praying that the proposed State Pension changes are implemented just before then. If it doesn't work out, does anyone know if choosing to defer the State Pension will allow us to be treated under the new regime proposed?

What is due from late mothers pension?
Sorry if a stupid question. I am currently attempting to deal with my late mothers estate and all the paperwork that goes with it. My question is: If someone has been receiving a pension from a private plan/pension does that mean they are no longer 'contributing' to the scheme? My mothers Private pension had a section that…

Lost Pension - Opted out of SERPS 1988 - Midland Bank Penison Scheme
Hi I wonder if anyone could give me some advice. Background. I opted out of SERPS around 1988 (give or take a year) aged early 20's. I set up a pension scheme with the then Midland Bank. I moved house several times, married and never thought about it again. Now I am wondering where it is, or indeed if it still exists.…

Dad Died, what is Mum entitled to?
Hi everyone, Apologies if this is posted in the wrong part of the forum. My Dad died on Saturday and I am starting to sort through Dads finances and help my Mum. Some things were in joint names, others such as his ISA and some savings were just in his name. He didn't have a will. How easy is it to transfer things into Mums…

standard life mis-sold my annuity
Standard Life paid me £1200.36p instead of the agreed amount of £1236.00 and then said I had misunderstood the offer which is nonsense as I added £1236.00 to my lump sum and quoted the total amount to them more than once and each time they agreed with my figure I telephoned Standard Life to inform them that I wanted to opt…

IFA charging structure and RDR
Question aimed mainly at IFAs or those familiar with their issues. As I understand it, post RDR IFAs will no longer be able to collect commission on certain new business. I can understand why a move to up front hourly charging might not suit some IFA customers. What I am less clear on is why this is the inevitable…

State Pension for Widows
A friend aged 55 is terminally ill with cancer and has full NI contributions, as does his 51 year old wife. Looking at various websites I believe she would qualify for…

small pension
I have a small pension with Phoenix life worth about £13000.00. I am 63 and would want to cash the policy in, however it is under the £18000 threshold and they say that because I am in receipt of a police early retirement pension I can only have the 25% in cash. Does this pension count towards the £18000 threshold, can…

Civil service "Partnership" pension question

Scottish Widows Civil Service AVC
Hi there, I just wonder if anyone has any advice please... I have a company pension, but felt I needed to top it up a little so in 2008 I joined the AVC scheme through Scottish Widows. I'm in the 40% tax bracket so it made sense to me to do this at the time, saving 40% tax now and then likely only paying 20% on my…
