Two old Company pensions that are frozen and only had about 5 years…

IFA Money For Nothing
I have a Standard Life Pension set up 10 years ago by an IFA. Since it was set up I haven’t heard from the IFA. Every time I put lump sums of money into the pension this IFA gets cash. Last week I put in £16,000 and he got £420. Is there anything I can do to get the £420 left in the account? I wouldn’t mind him getting the…

Should I, as a stay at home mum, put money into old work pension or take out new one?
I have 2 paultry pension pots which amount to extremely little. One for 4.5 years with civil service back in early 1990's and one with PriceWaterhouseCoopers via Winterthur Life for 4 years or so. I left work 7.5 years ago to stay home with children so have not contributed since. Would it be a good idea to contribute again…

State pension and NI contributions
My husband and I are thinking of retiring early - he will be 61 and I will be 57. Can anyone tell me what effect this will have on our State pension when we both reach 65? My husband has paid high NI contributions over the years and had a letter a few years ago to say he should have £150 a week when he retires. I have…

Nuvos pension - leaving with less than 2 year's contribution
Hello, I'd be grateful for a little advice from someone with more (read: any) financial know how than me. I have recently left a nuvos pension scheme having joined 14 months ago on a 12 month contract (yeah... go figure). I now have a few 'options' which to be honest I am confused about. As it happens I think I was…

Set up a pension for a single payment/transfer?
Hi there lovely MSErs! My OH recently changed jobs and has been told by his new employers that he cannot transfer any existing pensions savings into their (final salary - hurrah!) scheme. He has recently had a letter from his old pension (nuvos) that he needs to nominate a new pension to transer his contributions to, or…

How much will IFA charge to set up PPP
At the moment I am investigating the option of starting a PPP to maximise the tax uplift during my remaining couple of years as a higher rate tax payer. I would be looking at a £35K lump sum to start followed by £1.8K per month for the next 2 years. Assuming that a PPP is the way forward, what would be a reasonable charge…

I'm a bit worried about my IFA
..who met with me on 23 February to discuss Sipp investments which had recently matured. The money then sits (and is still sitting) in the Standard Life cash account where it earns, I think 1% of naff all. Since then I've sent him a couple of polite reminders but had no response-he was due to let me have a list of…

Pension contributions /
With a pay rise and the change to personal allowances fro 2011/12, I am in the fortunate (or unfortunate) position of potentially starting to pay higher rate tax. I am currently in a generous company pension scheme, were they double my contributions up to a fixed percentage (5% from me,10% from company). In order to stay…
