company pension scheme - for temporary workers?

Hello

I have been on a temporary contract for 2 years now with the same company. does this mean that I should be offered the opportunity to pay into the company pension scheme, as I should not be descriminated against?.

Permanent employees are offered this after 3 months service?

any information appreciated.

thanks

  • I believe that under some circumstances, various aspects of employment law automatically apply to 'temporary' workers after a perios of time, but it depends upon the nature of the contract.

Pension schemes, though, tend to have their own rules, and I have not heard of a 'legal' requirement to apply the same pension funding arrangements to temp staff. But this is probably best also posted on the employment thread, since someone there might know.

Whatever the legal situation, it would do no harm to ask them anyway.
