Comparison of pensions
I am thinking of changing employer and wish to compare their pensions. My current employer offers a final salary scheme which they have said they are committed to maintaining. This has been demonstrated through increased contributions from employee and employer over the last couple of years. Currently employee pays 7.5%…

Pensions or ISA
Decided really must get our finances sorted out. Simple question (I Hope) we are in our mid 40s. Should we be topping up my husbands pension (he pays 40 per cent tax) with AVCs or putting our money into ISAs to get the best return. P.S. sorry if this has gone in twice, got a bit confused

25% lump sum question
Is this figure that I have read about available to those of us that are over fifty??. I have at present three pensions, all frozen (because of employment circumstances) and was wondering if I can divert some cash assets from one or two, in directions other than annuities. The three are spread out and include Allied…

New Rules
Would it be possible for someone to post a short summary of the new rules due to take effect in April? My own impression is that now it will be possible to - save up to £3,600 even with no income - save up to a max of 100% of income in any one year How will final salary schemes cater for this - added years, perhaps? Will…

not getting pension
During the period Feb 1969 until Nov 1975 I was employed by a major oil company in the North Sea, and belonging to the contributory pension scheme was a condition of employment. This scheme commenced in late 1971 or early 1972. I have now had a lot of communication with the company and they say they have no recors at all…

Sippdeal - have I misunderstood?
I am quite taken with the Sippdeal charges. I seem to pay nothing to start it and no annual admin fee. I then pay £50 to transfer in my existing pension and then £30 max to put all my money into a single share. I then leave it for 20 years untouched. Will sippdeal really run this thing for me for 20 years without any…

ISA slow burner
Just a very basic idea, please feel free to pick holes in it. I am 25 yrs old. If I put 3K p.a. into mini cash ISA, assuming limit stays the same then, ignoring interest which will of course bump it up, I will have at say age 55yrs, in excess of 90K. With the new "A"day rules, could I then plough it into a pension as one…

Equitable Life PPP - Stay or go?
I'm in my late thirties, and started my EL pension 10 years ago. I have not made contributions since the whole EL mess started; preferring instead to pay off my mortgage. My PPP is split 60/40 equities/with profits and is currently worth £22k. I have been following the 'contract in/contract out' threads with great interest…

AVC limit calculation
From direct.gov website. 'You can currently only pay 15 per cent of your salary into your company pension each year (including AVCs).' I'm currently in the company money purchase scheme, making contrubutions of 3% with employer giving 5%, and also making additional AVC of 3% with employer giving 3%. Therefore, is my…
