a decent state pension? a friend of mine has been a resident of the uk for many years but the last 10 years they worked in france. they now get their uk state pension and a miserly amount for the 10 years in france. it is not even the minimum you would get with pension credit.
Someone recently told me that they should fill or should have filled in form E215. can anyone enlighten me ? what options are open to them now? thanks in advance for your help.

If you want to get a full state pension you need to pay voluntary NICs while working abroad. They are now very cheap - less than a tenner a month.Trying to keep it simple...0

yes they have paid full UK national insurance contributions and that is why they get approx 80 pounds a week but they only get about 200 euros about 140 a month from france. that is not even the minimum amount to live on if you were to get pension credit.

They should really seek advice in France about the French pension entitlement, but 10 years is not a very long time in state pension terms anywhere, including the UK.Trying to keep it simple...0

voluntary NICS are now £7.35 per week, class 2 can only be paid abroad where a person is employed or self employed.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
