How to stop colours leaching in the wash
I recently bought a blue & white striped sweater and on its first test wash (by hand) noticed that the blue colour was leaching quite badly. I'm worried that the white parts will eventually end up coloured with a blue tinge. What's the best way of washing to prevent this happening?

Using Scone and Doughnut mix to make bread
Has anyone used the Chefs Larder scone and doughnut mix from approved foods to make bread? I did see that someone on their forum has made it and just added water and yeast. I want to have a go at making the white bread rolls from my Fastbake bread maker so do I assume I just use 3 1/4 cups of scone mix to replace the bread…

O/S often not the cheapest - what's your motivation?
Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong place but a recent trip to the supermarket got me thinking. They were selling a pair of kids' school trousers for £2 which was less than a dozen free range eggs. This seemed pretty crazy to me. I consider myself to be fairly O/S generally and if it were cheaper would really consider…

I know I can't go the whole self sufficiency way for now, I can hardly grow any veg never mind keep pigs and hens! Hoping to get there with the veg!…

Can I make my own pasta sauce and "bottle" it-advice re the jars?
Ok I can and mostly do make my own pasta sauce rather than the shop bought type-dolmio etc. However sometimes it is so much easier to use the jars just to bung in for a quick tea. So I would like to make my own sauce in quantity and store it. Now I have frozen it in the past, but if there is a way of storing it withpout…

I can't get my bread machine to turn out a decent loaf, any help appreciated!
Hi everyone, I was recently bought a Kenwood BM450, which I was so excited about! I have been persevering with it for about 2 months, but I have yet to make a really good loaf. The only exceptions have been french sticks, which I do on the dough setting using expensive 'grade 00' flour, and then bake in the oven, and a…

Use powder in your washing machine.
Just had the washing machine repair man around (electrical problem), he said I see you use tablets.....
