My grocery money saving tip
I've been doing a personal experiment which appears to have worked! My Mam always does a 'big shop' once a week, and I just followed her example and have done the same. I find though that I often 'impulse buy' as it's so easy to throw things into the trolley, and often I'm ashamed to say that food used to get thrown out as…

Bread Maker Recommendations (merged with "Thoughts on...")
I've been looking at getting a breadmaker recently and I'm very tempted to pick one up this weekend, or at least buy one over the net. I've come across a Morphy Richards 48280, which seems to have some good reviews, but I wanted to know what you lot thought:- * Bakes a 1lb, 1½lb and 2lb loaves. * Choice of 12 settings…

Bread disaster!!!
Some of you may know about the problems I had when making a loaf of granary bread last week which turned out very heavy and stodgy, and it was suggested that I try it again but replacing half the flour with plain bread flour for better results (sorry forget who suggested it now) so I tried that this morning ... Less is more?
I’d like to start by saying that I don’t eat meat, but the rest of my family does (dh, dd1 and dd2) and I buy it for them. I have noticed that a lot of you achieve your amazing low grocery challenges by a) buying really cheap value chicken/beef b) eating/stretching this meat out to 3 or 4 times a week c) buying really…

How do you use less (making things go further)
It was the thread about using less washing up liquid that got me thinking on this subject. But what and how do use less of. for me it is: I use face wipes (I know wasteful)I cut them in half as they are way too big. I keep a pair of scissors in the bathroom for this. So I get 60 day supply from a standard 30 wipe packet.…
