Left over potatoes
Someone on another thread mentioned leftover mash and it reminded me of this: Cheese whirls * You need some flaky/puff/rough puff pastry. I always keep a pack in the freezer. * Cooked potatoes, mashed up, seasoned. Quantities can be varied for this recipe - at least a cereal bowl full. * Grated cheese - the more, the…

Home made Dips
Thought might be handy at this time of year, and cheaper than shop bought alternatives. My staple ingredients are mayonnaise, Greek or plain yoghourt/fromage fraise/creme-fraiche, home made tomato sauce, tins of beans such as canneloni/kidney/borlotti. From these you can make a wealth of dips. When buying yoghourts etc.,…

Recycling tips
Ok, on another thread we were discussing recycling so thought it deserves a thread of its own. What can I do with breadcrumbs?
Have printed off the courgette crumble recipe from the Veggie & Vegan thread, and it got me wondering about what we should infer re. breadcrumbs. Do most of you understand this to be crumbled bread that you do yourself, or the cardboard tubs of golden crumbs that are for coating e.g. scotch eggs and other deep fried food?…

Don't know if this is a good price, but my local Indian Grocer has bulk 5 litre bottles for about £2.50 (in our shop it's by the other bulk items for takeaways like mammoth 5 litre ketchup bottles). I remember a thread a while ago trying to find cheap bulk sources so hope this helps!

Cutting back reduces packaging?
Wasnt sure which forum to post this. We have recently started using the tips on this board for cutting back financially. Question about board & moved threads??
I'm fairly new here but just noticed that loads of threads have recently been moved to other boards. I can see the reasoning for some, but quite a few looked like genuine old fashioned money saving threads, seeking old fashioned advice. Please could someone clarify for me what type of things don't belone on this board?…
