Ccj for car parking ticket in 2015
Hello.! In July 2015 I received a car parking fine of £70. The car park was a gravel pit, and the parking ticket in the AO section (please specify), did not have anything written in it.! There were no parking lines anywhere. Just gravel.! I sent the car company an email, with photos, and they never responded.! Yesterday I…

No oil after service questionable?
Hi all - My car was serviced 9 months ago (including an oil change) and now my car's engine oil is completely empty. I can't see any clear signs of a mechanical fault and the car is only 2 years old, so providing no fault is changed can I assume that the mechanics didn't actually change the oil as advertised? I'm no car…

Graunching noise when reversing?
I have just noticed a graunching noise coming from underneath my 2007 Volvo S80 when reversing. After a little PD, the noise seems to be coming from the rear nearside wheel and can be full recreated without the engine running or car in reverse gear. Fairly sure the noise has only started happening today (as I reverse onto…

Insurance company liability issue
In February 2019 my car was parked on the side of the road as I was attending a job interview. A lorry hit the back of it and unfortunately the lorry driver didn't speak English. I managed to get a photo of his insurance details, registration and drivers licence. 12 months on and i'm still waiting for the insurance company…

Nissan service cost
My local Nissan dealer is quoting £259 for a major service (35000 miles). It's for an NV200 van which has a 5 year warranty and there is some warranty work needed too so it's convenient to have it done at the same time. It's a long time since using a main dealer for a service - is that price realistic?

Insurance accepting liability without consent
So my girlfriend has recently been involved in a car crash which wasn't her fault - she was on a roundabout when a car pulled out in front of her cutting her up, and then he slammed his brakes on. As there was no time to react to this my girlfriend started braking but ended up going into the back of him regardless. It was…

Pavement parking change?
Media attention about a change in the rules around pavement parking. At the moment its only enforced in Scotland, London and Sheffield. There was a TV program showing pavement parkers being ticketed last week, the program was filmed in Birmingham. Surely anyone driving on the pavement is commiting an offence, so they can…

Van repair car hire issue
Hi there! I’m posting for a friend. :) A good pal bought a brand new transit custom. 1200 on the clock the injectors went, Ford took the van back fixed it but in the meantime he was told he needed to go to Enterprise car hire to pick up a courtesy car... (corsa... not a like for like as promised). He was also told he…

Short driving licence validity, help!
Hello all, I'm a relatively new driver of three years. On renewing my car insurance, I've realised that my driving licence expired just four months after I'd received it... so it would appear that I've been breaking the law for around 2.5 years. I've attempted to renew the licence (gov.uk/renew-driving-licence), but have…

Paint and Lacquer falling off bumper...advice please!
Hi all, I bought a car late November, a Golf GTi, from an independent trader up in Newcastle. When I bought the car I had a look round it and it a looked ok at that time (it was freezing and covered in water though). I bought the car for 16.5k and put a 2.5k deposit down and financed the rest. I was told the car had never…

Gears very stiff after new gearbox and clutch
Had a new gearbox and clutch fitted to my 2005 Yaris today. It is very stiff to get into 1st gear and fairly stiff on all the gears. Reverse is smooth. The mechanic said it should settle down once it's run for a couple of days as it needs the fluid to lubricate it properly. Does this sound right?
