Stolen car - any thoughts welcome!
Hi, just heard from a friend of mine in London (NW1) that her car has been stolen. It was parked on the street, with a permit FWIW. The same thing happened last year but 2 weeks earlier, 4 other cars in the vicinity were stolen the same night. The police told her there was nothing they could do. There was a steering wheel…

Buying a used car to save money -query
Hi all I used to just have bangers (multiple Micra driven until they broke), but I got lazy and am currently in a BMW i3 at £433.33 a month. My salary is good, but it is still a stupid expense to me considering we mainly drive to and from the train station. Also, we are looking at selling our house in two years and I'd…

Received letter from Tax Licensing people issuing court proceedings for car we never owned
Hi all. In February this year my mum was searching for a new car and one of the cars she looked at was a Juke. The dealer adviser her to put £100 down as a deposit to hold it while she thought about it. A few weeks later she received an owners document in the post (no car obviously and not done anything beyond the…

Coil springs breaking on a not very old Audi A1
I have a six year old A1 on 50,000 miles. Owned it since new. 18 months ago a front spring snapped at 30,000 miles. That one was replaced by a main dealer and when I asked whether they should be replaced in pairs they said they were really surprised it had broken this early so not to worry about the other side. Heard a…

Car servicing tips for a 10 year old car
I have a low mileage little peugeot 107, about 10 years old. I don’t know much about cars but want to get it serviced at a fair cost so that it runs nicely. I have heard some horror stories and don’t want to get ripped off for unnecessary parts and stuff. But I also don’t want to get taken in by silly promotions and do any…

92 in a 70
Been naughty and got a NIP for 92 on the M25. Not denying it, I know it was wrong. So, I've had no points for years, is this likely to be a court job or a hefty FPN and points? :o

Personalised number plates
I wish to buy a private plate for a new car arriving in 6-8 weeks. Is it better to get the plate before the car arrives so that the dealer does the transfer? How long can I hold to the number before the car arrives? Or is it better to take the car with normal plate and transfer the plate later? Thanks in advance

Injury claim advice
Good evening all. Looking for a bit of advice. 3 weeks ago my car was involved in an accident, I was hit from behind quite hard and my car was a write off. No one was seriously injured thankfully, however, my mum and daughter were affected. My mum hurt her neck from being thrown forward and the seat belt locking, and my…

Dart charge
I use the Dartford crossing very occasionally. I set up an auto top up account which tops up by £10 if it goes below £10. I thought this would be an easy way to make sure I would also have a payment sorted if I use the crossing. Today I have received an email saying that because my account has been inactive for 12 months…
