Stupid Question about Car insurance
Apologies for this, as it may see obvious to some Car insurance is taken out for a 12 month period But if you find a better one 6 months in, can you ditch it and switch or do you have to pay the full 12 months (I'm aware you have a grace period of say 30 days at the start)

I have just purchased a VW Polo S (Y-REG), 1.4 for my wife (new driver). The car has done 80000 miles and has a full service history. The clutch is a bit hard to use, but the gears are perfectly fine. Is there any way to get the clutch a bit smoother?? Thanks in advance.

Is it worth Servicing at a garage?
Hi, Any advice is appreciated..... I have a Mondeo III 04 (53 plate) 2.0 TDCi 130 with approx 116,500 mileage and owned it for about 2 years. I had it serviced at an independant garage last year at 104k but I guess it was not a major one as the pollen filter was not changed. The service history is up-to-date until last…

Help on the roads in the Credit Crunch
I've been wanting to buy a SatNav for ages as I travel a good deal in my job, but after shopping around it was going to set me back £100 or more for a TomTom or similar. My wife's just sent me a link to one that's only £59.99 on the TJ Hughes website, which is such a good deal! As I'm a new user I can't add links, but if…

Hire Purchase
Hi, I bought a car on HP many years ago. When I ran into financial trouble I could not afford to keep it insured, taxed etc. so I let my mother have the use of it whilst I kept up reduced payments. I still make these payments but, in order for my Mum to insure the car, she had to register it in her name. My question is: is…

Just had a blowout (front tyre).
http://www.flickr.com/photos/92961862@N00/3766432873/ This is rather odd. Ever since I had the tyres fitted I've noticed an occasional strange noise. It's similar to the sound that a tyre makes when you have a stone trapped in it. A tapping noise, once per rev of the wheel. It wasn't very loud and it wasn't there all of…

Before it gets scrapped - sell the bits?
I'm taking advantage of the Government scrappage scheme with my 1997 P reg Polo. it's got 15-inch alloys and the tyres are fairly new. Do you think it's worth trying to sell the wheels and put some steel wheels and cheap tyres on them the day it gets taken down to the dealer for its scrap? If so, how much do you think I'll…
