Do you get a better rate if you're already with a lender?
Looking at a re-mortgage next year. First time I've done it. Seems there are much better rates for me switching to a new product, than the like-for-like equivalent for someone purchasing with them for the first time. Is that a thing? Or am I reading this all wrong? 5.99% -…

So mortgage rates have gone up before my renewal but where I am lost is: cost of living is increasing as the price of goods fuel gas etc goes up and most really the vast majority is energy related so the Bank of England to combat…

Overpaying
Is the quick answer to always overpay on the mortgage with the highest interest rate? Or if there are differing amounts owing, should the higher amount be overpaid? I have two mortgages (on the same property (yawn)):- £40,000 at 5% £70,000 at 3.14% The first one is variable (2% above base rate) and the plan was to keep…

Fix in or go variable?
Hi, our fixed term is coming to an end, offered 4.99% which is affordable but only because we are having to extend our term by 4 years, offered variable at 3.29% my question is if any one can help (I know the markets are constantly changing so advice can change) do we fix, or do we risk a variable, if we go variable, and…

Moving house in the middle of fixed term - question
We are in the middle of a 5 year fixed rate mortgage. The rate of 1.39 is portable. We are looking to move to a property that is around 20k less than we've sold our current property for. What exactly would happen with regards the mortgage? Would we be able to use the difference of 20k to pay the stamp duty, estate fees etc?

My daughter is living in the property with her disabled sister, he is elsewhere and not on the electoral list for the property. She pays all…

Hello, I would be most interested in any comments or suggestions on my situation. My interest only mortgage is coming to an end next May. Mortgage overpayment or something else...
Hi, apologies because I know there have been a lot of posts about whether to make mortgage overpayments or not but just hoping I can get some collective wisdom on something.... Changing mortgage broker after seller accepted offer?
Hi all, This is our first time buying a property while also selling our current one. As such we’ve gone with the estate agent’s recommended mortgage broker without doing as much due diligence as we perhaps should’ve. They’ve done the mortgage in principle and we used that to put in an offer for the house we’re buying. Now…

Should I get a credit card to prove I can pay mortgage payments?
I am looking for some advice. I am a young person who will, in a few years time, be wanting to get a mortgage for my first house or flat. I am wondering whether it is beneficial for me to have a credit card, use it for everyday spending and pay it off monthly, in order to prove to a mortgage lender in the future that I am…

Inflation rises to 11.1% - What next for base rates and mortgage rates in 2023 and beyond?
With CPI now at 11.1% where do we think base rates and mortgage rates will be heading in 2023? I was expecting rates to peak at 4.5% next summer but I'm not so sure now. Historically base rates have been generally higher than inflation but with with the amount of UK debt, I myself don't see this happening. Personally I…
