Do mortgage lenders care how long ago a default was settled?
Does anybody know if banks care how long ago a default was settled, or is it just the date of the original default that matters?

Mortgage offer extension
The mortgage offer for a house we are buying runs out at the end of August but there is an issue with a plan that may need a few weeks to resolve. Would the Mortgage company extend the offer period or will we have to reapply for the mortgage again once the date has expired.

Valuation for additional lending
We bought this house 12 months ago and paid £270k (full asking price). We've had it valued today by a different estate agent who thinks he'd get £310-315 for it, after marketing it at 325. Now we are sure we got a bargain when we bought but still, it's a massive increase in 12 months, isn't it? Anyway, we'd like to borrow…

If I put money into Nationwide mortgage as an overpayment can I get it back?
We have a longstanding Nationwide mortagage on their BMR. It has the facility to "overpay" without penalty. I have been given a lump sum by my parents to pay termly fees. So I need to draw down on the money three times per year. If I put it into my mortgage a/c and carry on paying the "normal" monthly mortgage payment then…

Changing deal with same lender post bankruptcy (joint mortgage)
I hope someone can give me some advice! I was made bankrupt in 2014 as a result of debts from a business partnership I had left in 2010. I was discharged just over a year ago. My husband paid my beneficial interest in the house (ie half of the equity) so we got to keep the house, and he kept on paying the mortgage. The…

Savings v Mortgage
Hi folks, A dumb question, and hopefully one that hasn't been asked too many times before! I know as a general rule of thumb, if a savings account rate is higher than a mortgage rate then you should stash it in your savings. Does this same rule apply though when taking out a new mortgage? E.g., my regular savings account…
