Hi

We are currently going through an application with Halifax, had our AIP and have reserved a new build plot.
For the past few months I have been on and off work due to pregnancy issues. This means on my last 3 wage slips it shows a level if company sick pay. I have been on full pay the whole time but now Halifax have said they can't accept these pay slips and have approached my employer to complete a form basically confirming salary.

Has anyone else had problems like this and been successful. Our hard credit checks have been done and we dont have any credit issues.

Just worried these sick days and being pregnant wil.affect the application

I shouldn't think the company sick pay itself would be too much of an issue, but did you disclose that you are pregnant? As I believe you are required to state or material life changing circumstances on the mortgage application.

If so, then speaking for myself I wouldn't worry too much, it sounds like they're just after confirmation of your salary.
  • I made my mortgage advisor aware I was pregnant and that there would be sick pay showing on my wage slip due to this so I would imagine it would have been disclosed. I've never actually saw sight of my application so I don't know what was actually asked on it. I hope this doesn't cause problems as I deliberately didn't hide anything. Even when I'm off on mat leave my income wont reduce that much because my young son will be taken out of nursery so we will save a fortune on childcare.
  • Yviesagas - how did it go? what did Halifax say?

  • Hi, thanks that makes sense. I'm a similar-ish situation which I've posted up but no responses so far. Wondering if you might have a view? thanks.

This July, I applied to remortgage from residential to BTL repayment (large lender) for about £170,000 LTV 60%; it was approved, valuation done and underwritten. Before completion, I reapplied for additional borrowing of £30,000 for home improvements, moving the LTV to 67%.

When the advisor updated and resubmitted my application – he said that officially no additional evidence was required but the underwriter may ask for payslips covering the most recent 2 months that had elapsed since the prior approval.

The issue is that my employer has accidentally deducted 50% of my Aug pay for statutory sick pay (timesheet admin error). My employer will fix it and will pay me the difference via a manual payment. However payroll has said that they cannot reproduce a new August payslip that shows my full pay due to IT system reporting restrictions. Also, I imagine it is possible that the incorrect August sick pay has already been reported to HMRC.

My question is, what acceptable evidence can I ask my employer to produce to explain the August sick pay deduction error? E.g. A signed letter on headed paper stating there was an error that has been rectified? Will this error scare the bank and decline my application?

Any advice GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.
  • Hello!

You may wish to start a new thread to get more answers but I'm sure that an official letter from your company will be completely acceptable.
