Mortgage - short term work contracts?

Hi,
My boyfriend works in TV, he was employed permanently but has recently gone freelance. His current job and properly for his next one at least he will be employed on a short term contract (months) and will pay PAYE.
In this case would a mortgage provider need to see 2 years worth of work? Similar to if he was self employed?
I'm just thinking ahead to the future, I have a permanent role.
Thanks

He would not necessarily need two years Freelance history. TV Freelancers are tricky though. Spoke to a Broker with some experience of them.
Perhaps he has colleagues who could recommend someone.
We have done a few but you may find someone who does a few a year.I am a Mortgage Broker
