Got My Life Back - Thank You
Back at the end of January I was in dire straights after being a complete clown and idiot with credit cards. I had £56k of debt and was slowly disappearing on my way to oblivion, with no one prepared to help. I had been through 2 FA's who did their best but could find no lender to help consolidate my debt with a mortgage.…

Getting second opinions on mortgage advice?
I have had a mortgage illustration from one mortgage advisor recommended by a friend, but I'd like a second (or third or fourth!) opinion... Is there any reason (legal or etiquette) I shouldn't ask other mortgage advisors for their advice too? I have had trouble finding good independent advice, apart from this one person.…

Not on electoral register
I am guessing when applying for a mortgage that you have to be on electoral register. Can anyone tell me if you have to be on it for so long or can you just get put on electoral register 1 day and apply for mortgage straight away. For 1 reason or another I have never been on electoral register.

Some hope!
I write this post as someone who has been both a 'lurker' on this forum and as someone who has posted looking for some advice / reassurance a couple of times. I guess this post could go in the 'Debt' section too, but I have chosen to post it here. My finance and I got together just over 4 years ago. Shortly after moving…

Want to move, but not sell?
Hi We are looking to move area in 2014. However, I want to do a little bit of pre-investigation of how this works before getting my accountancy hat on. At the point of moving, my (well sounded) predictions are that* We will have approximately 36% equity in our home (64% owing) * This is assuming a £200k value * We will be…

Probably a stupid question, but how do 'in principle' mortgage offers work?
My husband and I are first time buyers and we've sadly lost out on the house we liked recently to another couple in the bidding process. We of course don't know what their final offer was, but I read somewhere that a agreed mortgage in prinicple can make you more attractive to sellers. I don't quite get how these work…

New Buy mortgage completion
Hi All, We are due to complete on a New Buy Mortgage, however, the builder has advised us that once the CML has been completed they cannot complete for another 14 days due to government rules. We've asked the bank and solicitors and they aren't aware of this. Has anybody else heard of this or experienced this? Thanks.

Endowment has matured, will I get the money?
23 years ago I defaulted on a mortgage. The mortgage was jointly taken out with my then girlfriend.
