Mortgage Broker Recommendation - Good deal?
After the giddy euphoria of getting an offer accepted it's time to crunch some numbers and see what mortgages are out there. Offer is in at 109k, 85% LTV leaving us borrowing £92,650. While I expected to go for a fixed rate our broker (L&C) suggested that with a low mortgage value, a 2 year tracker might be better as the…

Wonder if anyone could help. I'm a first time buyer and I've found a maisonette I'd like to buy. Its on the market for £85k and if the asking price is offered, there is a 5% gift deposit. First time mortgage, credit card v. debit card.
Is it possible/easy to get a first mortgage without ever having had a credit card and only ever having a debit card? I have never had any loans or debts therefore presumably I have no credit record. Is this a disadvantage? I'd prefer not to have a credit card but don't want to make getting a good mortgage rate less likely.
