Properties for residents over 55 y.o.
Hi Guys First of all a general question - whats the deal with the properties for residents over 55 y.o? Can they only be re-sold to over 55 y.o. buyers? Can they be given as a gift to other people? Overpayments on Interest only mortgage
Hi; I'M currently taking advantage of the low interest rate by overpaying on an interest only mortgage. After 3 years of a fixed 6%, we are now into our 2nd year of a +2% base tracker. But in all honesty apart from the advantage of 'getting ahead of the payments, with the chance of 'payment holidays', I am a little…

Mortgage further advance when near end of deal
Currently on a 3 year tracker from the Cheshire Building Society which is due to end at the end of February. Had a good deal from this as the mortgage is only 0.34% above the BOE Base rate. Have been assuming we will automatically go onto their standard rate of 3.99% so have been looking for some competive deals to pay of…

Pregnant with mortgage - what did you say to the mortgage company?
Hi, I'm 20 weeks pregnant, going to lose my job in 3 weeks (I'm a contractor) and on a joint repayment mortgage with my husband. We chose our house based on the fact that we knew we'd be having a family and I'd be giving up work, so we know we can afford everything on one wage, although there's a chance it might be a bit…

Question for MA's, sorry if its a stupid one.
I am confused by the news items saying that FTBs cannot find decent deals, then the money pages showing reasonable deals for 85% LTV for instance. I haven't the time at the moment to sit down with an MA, and nor do I want to waste their time either but I am curious about where I would stand as a potential FTB. Salary £31K…

What am I missing?
Hi all, my girlfriend and I are first-time buyers, just seen a property we love. I've seen an IFA and have been approved for a mortgage (LTV 80%), but yesterday came across this HSBC lifetime tracker: https://mortgages.hsbc.co.uk/product/140-life-time-tracker-standard It seems a bit too good to be true for a LTV 80% (max I…
