Mortgage Application Question
Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows why, on the mortgage application and solictors form, they ask if someone else is going to live in the property with you and they request their name and age (even though you are buying the property in only one name)? Thanks A

Mortgage Admin fee £1495
Hi, I am applying for a mortgage of £75,000 and they are charging me an arrangement fee of £1,495. I am concerned when I pay this fee because if the sellers pull out the fee is non-refundable. I have already lost £600 in fees as a person buying my house pulled out at the last minute. Can I take out an insurance to cover me…

Credit Check Advice
I am hoping someone can help me with what mortgage lenders put more importance on when they do a credit check. I currently own a property with a friend who is (hopefully) going to buy me out, I am then going to buy a property with my partner, with nothing to sell so we will need a new mortgage. My questions are: he has…

Endowment Advice
Hi, My endowment policy is due to reach the end of it's 10 years and is currently valued at less than the money that has been put in. (No real surprise given the economic climate) I now have a choice whether to withdraw the money or keep it going for another 10 years. I would really like some good advice on what to do.…

Is cheapest mortgage best?
I am looking to remortgage, as I am only in my early 20s and dont expect to move in the next 5yrs I thought 5yr fix would not be bad. I was dong some comparisons earlier and used the fsa tables as a base point. I sorted the deals in terms of initial rate (as its a fixed rate I am looking for) and then I compared the…

95% mortgages for home movers
Hi, I hope someone can help me? Basically my husband and I bought our first home 4 1/2 years ago and we are looking to buy somewhere bigger, however obviously we are very unlikely to make any profit at all from the sale. We have a combined income of £60,000 and no children but only have enough saved for a 5% deposit on a…

A&L New products released
Hi all, This is partly for others info but also asking for some advice. We bought our new build flat in the peak (summer 2007) and had a fixed mortgage for 2 years. Having come to the end of this have now reverted to SVR clearly very high at 4.99%. As we are viewed as negative equity there had been little option but to…

Mortgage Holiday whilst in Fixed rate
Hi We are looking at possibly asking for a 12 month payment holiday but using the mortgage money to repay all our other debts in a 12 month period. Money is getting very tight and this would be a great option but wandered if anyone had tried to get a Payment Holiday whilst still in a fixed rate? Thanks

Same rate different monthly cost? Confused?
I was using the fsa table to try and get a quick grasp at some of the cheapest 5yr fixes at the moment. I sorted the results by cheapest initial rate as its a fix I am looking for and was then crunching the numbers to include the fees. At which point I realised; the Chelsea Building Society the 2nd cheapest initial rate on…

Mortgage advice please!!!
Hi, I was on a variable rate with the halifax and I went in to see them about changing to a fixed rate. The advisor told me to pay off £3100 to reduce the term meaning I would have 7 years left on my mortgage. She then set me up the fixed rate mortgage. I have just received today my mortgage statement and an early…

New Build Homebuy - negative equity clause?
We bought a newbuild homebuy home 2 years ago, as we felt this was the only way we could afford to get on the property ladder. Back then we were able to get a 100% mortgage, so we must be in negative equity at present. We own a 40% share in the property and feel that the £450 per month rent we pay is quite a lot - and this…
