Porting mortgage to lesser value house
Hi Can anyone tell me if this is possible: If have a mortgage of say £125k. Sell my house for £125k. Purchase a house for say £110k and port my mortgage of £125k to that house, using the difference of £125k and £110k to do the property up which would then make it worth £150-£170k. Many thanks

How do I work out which mortgage is cheaper!
I want to compare two fixed rate mortgages, for their fixed periods only - how do I work out which is cheaper?! The choices are 4.89% with reservation fee of 2.5% of the loan amount (I think this would be about £2k). The other is 5.78% with no fee. Argh, I really should have paid more attention in maths classes :o

A question about mortgage APRs
I'm looking at fixed rate mortgages and am a bit confused about APRs and why a low interest rate can have a higher APR than a high interest rate. I know that APRs take reservation fees into account, but this doesn't always seem enough to explain the difference. Are APRs for the whole of the mortgage term, ie. taking into…

Lehman bank likely to be liquidated tomorrow Monday
My mortgage (two-year fixed term at 5.14 per cent, one year left to run) is with SPML, a subsidiary of Lehman. I feel very sorry for Lehman employees who are part-paid with share options (now worth almost nothing) but is there anything that I should be doing to protect my position?
