Advice on Norwich union float?
, we've got an endowment policy due to mature May 09. we had a letter last year informing us that there was possibly going to be a reatribution and our policy qualified. In the FAQ's it states that if the policy was in force on 21/11/06, but matured before reattribution, it would still be eligible. However, in a letter…

Stuck between a rock and a hard place!!!
Good Morning to you all, I write here today desperately trying to get as much advise I can on my current situation. In November my lower rate fixed period ends on my mortgage and will put my monthly payments much higher than I can afford and the possibility of remortgaging is looking very unlikely. To give you a better…

Fixed or Tracker

Does this count as a deposit?
We want to buy my partner's late mothers house from the estate. The house was left to be shared equally between four siblings. It's been on the market for four months, originally for £320K, now asking £280K, but the executors (two of the other siblings) have now said they would accept £240K if we want to buy. They have a…

First Time Buyer, would I be laughed at?
Hello Folks I am thinking about purchasing a property in the region of £150,000, I have around £32,000 that can be used as a deposit and I currently earn around £20,000 per year. Do I stand any chance of getting a reasonable mortgage in this climate or am I wasting my time?

Extending Endownments
Here is a different suggestion. I have the first of several endownments due to mature next year. I have made the decision to keep with them having considered the comments posted on this forum. However, it looks like the market is diving, just as my policies mature. Is there an option to extend a policy for 3 or 5 years…

2nd time buyer squeeze/need WoM advisor
Hi, I'm looking for some options for 90 and 95% LTV. I'm quite happy to switch after 2 to 3 years. Our situation: My partner and I are trying to sell our property as we both live quite a while away from our jobs. Depending on how things go we may only walk away with a 5% deposit for our next house, although there is a…

Mis sold endowment claim rejected by Ombudsman, guidance please?
Hello, We made a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman in 2005 about a mis-sold endowment. We have just received a letter saying that our complaint has been rejected, and that The Ombudsman will not enter into any further correspondence with us in the matter. Nevertheless we feel that we have a very strong case. Can someone…

Paying off mortgages - I don't understand why this is a good idea!
If you pay off your mortgage by making overpayments then you obviously save yourself a lot of interest. But if that money was in a savings account, instead of having gone on the mortgage, then you could be earning interest on it. Also an overpayment of £200 a month now is worth a lot of money - why is it not better to put…

Discount special?! Errrr hello?!
I don't understand what the old discount special rate is... just wondering if someone could explain what a discount rate of 5.69% is which is for 2 years and then has an APR of 6.4%. I understand what a tracker is (a set percentage over the bank of england base rate right?) and a fixed rate (obviously, fixed percentage)…

Make endowments paid up?
I have two endowment policies, together I'm paying about £30 per month into them. They aren't attached to a mortgage anymore. They have 4 years to maturity. I have small loans against them. I've just inherited some money. I intend to pay of the loans. After that I'd rather just stop paying into them and let them run to…
