Hi Was taking a look at some best rates products advertised on some website, and a product of the Vernon building society came up. I've never come across them before, but the rates look quite competitive, especially if one is thinking of buying time (low redemption and reservation fees). Any opinions here?

Advice on mortgage 'pay off' penalties please?
Could the wiser minds on this board please advise? I have about £6000 remaining on my building society mortgage repayments which are due to end in late 2008. I'd like to pay it off now but understand this can be a complicated procedure involving penalty payments. Any suggestions would be most gratefully recieved.:confused:

Pay towards mortgage or keep savings?
Got £22000 (over 7 years) left on mortgage. Have a 'spare £1200' in savings account. Already paying extra £120/mth to get the mortgage paid off soon as. Should I use the £1200 to pay into mortgage now or will it be better left in savings account paying around 4%?

All I am a new member, forgive me if this is old ground. I owe £73k on a repayment morgage with 15 years to run. Monthly payment £600. I am about to take redundancy with a payout of approx £90K.
