Advice on 100% mortgages!??
I currently have a 100% mortgage, interest only on my house. I have recently come to the end of my fixed rate agreement and feel as though I am trapped with my current mortgage company, Accord Mortgages? I do not have a deposit to put down so I am unable to look at anything less than a 100%. I am currently on the SVR which…

5 years on and I am nearly there!
When I was trying to claw my way onto the property ladder back in 2006 aged only 24, I used this website to learn about mortgages - tracker, fixed, interest only etc. At that time I had no clue about mortgage products. I also came accross this forum back then and read about people trying to become mortgage free! It…

I know I really should but....
I can pay a lump off the mortgage this Jan and have done for the last 5 years but soon the rate will be so low it wont be worth doing as the interest is better in a savings account when we move from fixed to tracker in March. Thing is I cant help myself wanting to pay the lump off of the mortgage! Its a bit mad really as I…

How much can I pay off in 2011...
the target is £55000 although we should be able to pay off just above £60000!:j If we keep up overpayments our mortgage should be paid before the Olympics start I started a previous thread but seem to have lost it and with a new year I though I deserved a shiny new thread where I can keep track of my overpayments. I've…

Mortgage free in 5-7 years time hopefully!
My wife and I were lucky enough to get on a 0.48% above base rate term tracker a few years back and so are currently overpaying like crazy to get our mortgage down a bit. Initially took out mortgage in May 2006 for £140000 and now in Jan 2011, we have got it down to £99000. In the last 12 months, we've paid off £15k and so…

We are due to be mf in june 2013, we have a £23k interest only mortgage @ 5.95% which will be more than covered by endowments maturing march 2011 and november 2012. Mortgage documents show we are limited to overpayments of £500/month and can incur a max early repayment fee of £750. I feel we should try and pay it off as…

Really stupid question - possibly
Hi all Our fixed mortgage gives the option to overpay 10% each January. First time we've been able to do it and I've got everything in place BUT - who do I make the cheque payable to?! Mortgage is set up with A&L, which is of course now Santander. Is that a really dumb question?

Is it worth overpaying?
My morgage is very high in interest, like 9% So will adding the odd bit extra save me much? Also, I'm out of work so I cant remorgage as I wouldnt have wage slips etc to show. Should I be able to switch to another product with the same bank at a lower interest rate? If I make overpayments and its a repayment morgage…

Does it matter when in the month you overpay?
My mortgage interest is added to the mortgage at the end of the month. I make an overpayment at the beginning of the month when I pay my dd. Does this make any difference when I overpay?

Zeddy's MFW diary
Hi Everyone and a Happy New Year to you all. Firstly, apologies on the uninspiring name to this thread, but everything I tried seemed too corny or a copy of someone elses, so I've gone for a 'what it does on the tin' approach! Secondly, here's a brief intro: We, (MrZ, MissZ and me) are due to move house in January, so far…
