ISA interest payment
Forgive me if this is a silly question, I've been out of the country for a while and so haven't used any of this years ISA allowance. If I was to open an ISA before 5th April, one that pays interest in April, would I be eligible to be paid the interest on my savings?

ISA and NISA advice.
Hi all, I currently have my savings in a Lloyds Fixed Rate ISA which expires in April and my ISA will then i'm told revert to a Cash ISA if left untouched. In April i do not want another FRISA because i might need to withdraw a fair bit of money for a house deposit/car and the Cash ISA i understand has no penalties for…

Platform Advice
Hi there, I signed up to the Barclays Stockbroker platform about a year ago to open an ISA and invest in some equities. I fully admit that I probably should have done more research, but at the time I was only interested in purchasing stocks, I had a current account with Barclays and the platform was user friendly and…

Will Existing ISAs Automatically Become NISAs? - Resolved
Just wondering if anyone has seen this explained anywhere. I have several ISAs with different institutions but I have been adding to my NS&I ISAs for several years running now and am likely to do so again after April. So, now that the government has changed the regime and the name to 'New ISA', will I literally have to go…

Risk averse but considering S&S ISA - help!
Dear All, With the changes to ISAs announced yesterday, a whole new world of possibilities have opened up for me in terms of saving/investing with ISAs. This may be a fairly long post; I hope that you bear with me and that any opinion offered would be helpful to others, not just me! I am very risk averse and as such have…

New it S&S ISAs
TITLE SHOULD READ 'TO' not 'IT' Hi all My husband has some savings that are not working for him right now. He is a 40% tax payer. I have suggested that a S&S ISA might be a good choice (currently his savings are just earning around 1% in a bank easy access saver). Naively I thought he would just go to the bank and open an…

"Temporary" S&S ISA for 13/14 and 14/15 50% allowance
I've been a cash-only ISA saver until now with the max 50% of the annual allowance invested over the last couple of years, but have never really had an interest in S&S ISAs or had a chance to understand how they work. Given yesterday's news, I would like to invest my remaining 50% in a temporary S&S ISA, for both 13/14 (by…

Fixed ISA on 6th April or wait for July?
Since there's a ton of posts and threads about the new NISAs, can I just ask what should someone do who usually takes out a fixed-term ISA at the start of the tax year. Should they take out a new fixed-term ISA for £5,940, or wait until July and get one for £15,000? I assume you can't take out an ISA in April and then a…

Non-resident for tax purposes and ISA's
Bear with me as the question is not the obvious one ..... I am non-resident and meet the various HMRc criteria - few days in the Uk, bank account and employment overseas, no Uk home in my name any more blah blah blah. My wife does not work, owns a flat in the UK, pays rates, water, gas electric etc and from a presence…

Quick ISA question - transfers/new money
Is it possible to transfer and ISA that was opened in a later tax year to ISA that was opened in a previous tax year? Basically I have a virgin ISA which earns 4% interest (fixed rate e-ISA issue 30) and Leeds BS ISA which earns 2.75%. Can I transfer the Leeds one (opened later) to my Virgin one and receive 4% interest?…

Shares into an isa ?
I bought a number of shares a few years back, with the hope if I made money it would pay off my endowment shortfall. I still have 5 years left until I have to pay the shortfall. The shares are steadily growning and are worth around £7k at the minute. Am I better off transferring these into an ISA shares account. In case in…

10% Tax Savings rate - change in today's budget.
If anyone knows how I can calculate how much (if any) tax I will have to pay on my savings interest I'll really appreciate it. Aged 66 I'll have a personal tax free allowance of £10,500 in 2014-15. My gross income for 2014-2015 is likely to be about £13,855 with an additional amount of gross interest (from which 20% is…

Shares ISA transfer "in progress". How can I invest more before it's completed?
Hi, I currently hold a Shares ISA with HL. Around a month ago I opened an account with Charles Stanley Direct and asked them to transfer my ISA to them. The transfer is not complete yet and I would like to invest the remaining of this year's allowance. What should I do? If I pay in new money into my ISA with HL, will the…

Budget: £15000 ISA Limit from 01/07 for Cash OR S&S
Great news for savers...if only the cash ISA rates were any good! From 1st July 2014, the ISA limit will be £15,000 and anyone can transfer all of their current S&S ISAs to cash ISAs, or the other way around. :D I'm not clear on whether the ISA limit increase will occur as usual on the 6th April or not. It might be that…

Cash & S&S ISA Query
I have got an existing cash ISA that I have not quite put the full allowance in. Today I have opened a new cash ISA (same provider) and I will do a transfer from the old cash ISA to the new one to have all the savings in the one place. I am due to get a bonus at the end of the month so I plan to put take some of the bonus…

Is 'Upgrading' a Cash ISA the same as a 'Transfer In'?
If I 'upgrade' a previous years' Cash ISA with the same provider to a better rate Cash ISA, is that the same as a 'transfer in', as long as I don't pay in 'new' money?

S&S ISA Transfer
Well I am almost two months into my transfer from HL to II, and so far ... I have three funds in II moved and gone from HL's website. Two funds that show up in both platforms. One fund that shows up in both platforms but with different unit amounts, HL right II wrong. 9 more funds not moving from HL at all. So it's all…
