When can I move money out of my ISA
Hello all, I have a 1 year ISA with Santander and I opened it on 10th April 2013 (DIRECT ISA SAVER (ISSUE 2)). Do I now have to wait until 11th April 2014 before I can withdraw the money (so as not to lose any interest), or can I move it to a new ISA on 6th April? A large sum of interest was paid in in March 2014, so maybe…

Saving for Postgrad Studies with an ISA
I've read the ISA guides on MSE but still find it a bit confusing! This is the first year I'm going to be saving seriously - until now I've been more about keeping myself afloat since graduating! I have a £1000 emergency fund in an easy access savings account. I want to start a postgraduate course from September 2015.…

123 charges
Beware: After the first year the annual charge for the 123 credit card is 24.00 taken from the current account plus a monthly charge of 2.00. To me that adds up to 48.00 per annum for the Santander 123 account. When this was queried, I was told this is in the documentation, the annual charge for the credit card is 24.00…

Time to switch ISAs, considerations
Hello, I currently posses a Barclays Loyalty ISA (1.29%) as my main saving account, remnant of my first UK bank account. I was thinking of switching to a more competitive one, and I was thinking of the Santander Direct ISA saver (1.60%) since I'd like to carry my previous savings (around 4 grands) into the new ISA. Had a…

HL Vantage ISAs -WARNING
Just a word of warning re the above.Received a letter today from HL about remaining subscriptions for 2013-4 showing that I had subscribed a modest amount already this tax year - I couldn't remember having made any such subscriptions so rang them as I have just opened an account elsewhere and was about to make a debit card…

Cash ISA, or 123 reward account?
Hi, As normal, the rates are shocking for ISA's :( Fortunately 2 years ago, I managed to get one with Llloyds fixed at 3.2% for 2 years. This is now coming to an end though, I've been talking to some people, and they are suggesting based on the rates, it would be better to signup with the Santander 123 account, and get 3%…

Help!
For some reason I can't quite figure out I'm reading the ISA manager's guide from HMRC at midnight on a Friday night. Anyway, one section got me thinking about the ISAs linked to current accounts that the likes of Nationwide and Santander offer: Is it just the fact that it says "savings accounts" in 8.6 that makes the real…

Open 2013/2014 S&S ISA now just to convert to NISA in July?
I've had a Cash ISA since my late teens and have had no interest in investing in S&S ISA until now. But the only reason I'm thinking about it now is due to the budget. I saved £5760 in my Halifax ISA last April and will receive the interest on it next month but having read that from 1 July 2014 that it will be possible to…

Fidelity Junior ISA
I wonder if anybody can help clarify the situation? Last April I opened a Fidelity Junior ISA for our toddler through Cavendish online. It has £50 per month invested in it in the Kames Ethical Cautious Managed Acc fund (AEECA). Fidelity has changed its fees structure to £45 per year flat investor fee and 0.25% service fee.…

Will I get interest if I invested all my allowance now?
I don't know if this is obvious or a stupid question, so please go easy on me :) I have £11k surplus from my remortgage that I'm going to use towards an extension on my house. The work probably won't start until May, so I've got the money 'lying around' for five or six weeks. I'm sure I read somewhere that as long as the…

Coventry BS ISA
Hello I would appreciate some advice on the following ... - I transfered £6k into an instant access ISA in late April 2013 earning 2% (including a bonus that will finish at the end of March 2104, then drop to 0.5%). - Coventry BS have a 3 years ISA fixed at 2.75% until 30 Nov 2017, but does not allow any transfers in and…

New Pensioner Bond.
I gather this will be coming in in 2015. We have funds in ISAs which fixed rate deals finish in April of this year. We normally do3 year fixed rate, is it no brainer to take a fixed deal for only one year and so have funds free to go to the Pensioner bond in 2015

S&S ISA strategy
I was just about getting my thinking on S&S ISAs in order, and then the budget came along. Wow, this makes things easier. So my thinking is:- 1. Transfer about £40k of old cash ISAs into an S&S ISA (won't mention the broker or the funds I intend to use for fear of being accused of being a spammer!). I'm leaving plenty of…

How will the new pension rules effect the popularity of ISA's.
You can now use a pension as a long term savings vehicle with tax relief. You may also get the bonus of an employer contribution. Downside, you may get taxed when you take the money out. Previously i have been putting money into cash isa's. Not so sure now.
