Virgin 1yr fix - tfr from Santander
Hi all, I recently opened a Virgin cash ISA for 1 year fixed at 2%. I transferred my current year Santander ISA into the new account so the 2.5% rate finishes in a few weeks and I wanted to open the Virgin account before the rate was pulled. My first query is that the Virgin site still show the interest rate at 0.1% - has…

Would a 3yr Fixed Rate Isa be the best way to go?
Hi, I have a Santander Isa with the grand total of £9.12 in it but I have now taken redundancy and have money to invest. The Santander account pays pitiful interest of half a percent! Would a fixed rate account for 3 years with the full allowance in it be a good way to go and can you add to that account during the year? Is…

Hi all, I'm new to posting, long time reader of all things helpful! I've recently inherited £20k and want to ISA it. I have £6k in another (very poor) ISA and am considering consolidating that too. Obviously I want to open before the deadline so that I can get as much into tax free savings as I can this year and in April.…

Improving NISA rates July 2014?
What is the thinking on whether banks etc will come up with some better interest rates for the new NISA limit coming in to play on 1st July. Rather than depositing £5940 in a cash ISA on 6 April I am thinking of waiting until 1 July when there is £15000 to find a home for. Housing money meantime in other interest bearing…

S&S ISAs: Advice Please!
Hi all, I've been using Cash ISAs for the last few years and have a few individual ones and a 2 year fixed one about to mature. My intention was to transfer them into one cash ISA to up the total potential growth, so I will be doing that anyway. But I have also managed to save a bit this year and would like to venture into…

New ISA's vs paying off mortgage
Hi, Just wondered if anyone had any advice please. I have fully subscribed to my cash ISA for this year. With the new ISA changes, I was wondering if it would be worth putting some money into the cash park/holding fund of a stocks & shares ISA with the intention of transferring it into the new cash ISA when they become…

Is Vanguard LS the right choice for me?
I have been doing a bit of research which initially stemmed from answers to a question I posed on the Pensions forum. Myself and my wife have used £5k each of the 2013/14 ISA allowance in Cash ISA's. I am looking to use the remaining 2013/14 allowance into S&S ISA's. From April and the new allowance I am planning on paying…

iii - Question about failed transaction
I'm a very new user of the iii trading platform (or any trading platform come to that) and my first set of regular payments have just gone through. 4 of them seem to be OK and are listed in my Active Orders but one has failed - "Order Rejected". I have sent them a message asking why this is, but in the meantime does anyone…

What to do with old Legal and General S and S ISA
I have been subscribing to an L&G S&S ISA for six years now. As an early-career professional and novice investor, with little need for access to the money, and a substantial amount already in cash ISAs anyway, it seemed a good way to build for the longer term. I spread my risk by investing in a broad spread of classes, and…

Coventry Fixed Rate ISA (20) for 2014/15 and NISA?
Just fixed my current ISA with Lloyds for another 2 years but will probably go with someone different for next years allocation. CBS looks good if it is still around in 2 weeks time. However my question is how this will work with the new NISA rules. The account only allows an initial deposit with my further additions. Does…

New ISAs and allowances
Hi everybody, I've read a bit about the new ISA but I have still some confusion :) My current situation is that I have a Cash ISA (Barclays) that's maxed up (only opened it this year though, so I just put in the whole allowance for this year) and a Stocks and Shares ISA (HL) which has got around 2.5k. I'm planning to move…

Moving ISA from Nationwide
Hi I opened an ISA with Nationwide last May. I maxed it out straight away and according to the online statement I got interest paid in October. Do I have to wait until May this year to transfer this ISA to a new one? I wasn't sure if I transfered before a full years up if it would lose any interest earned.

Money from old ISA to new ISA?
Is the following correct? On the 6th of April, I can open a new ISA, then transfer the money from my current ISA, into the new ISA. Even though I have transferred money from the old ISA, I can still pay in the full amount allowed for this year. The whole amount (the amount transferred from the old ISA, and the amount paid…
