Just checking I'm not breaking ISA rules...
I had an Alliance and Leicester ISA for the 06/07 tax year. It had a period of bonus interest which was due to end in April so I moved it in late Feb/early March of 07 to a YBS ISA which allowed transfers in. I'd used my full ISA limit for that year so I haven't actually funded the YBS ISA apart from the original transfer…

very basic ISA question

Avoiding CGT by putting shares in isa

I am in a sharesave scheme whereby money is deducted from my salary every month and after 3 yrs the total saved is given a bonus interest of around 5% and then this money is used to buy shares in my employer at a discounted rate. Basically after 3 yrs i will have put in £9000 and the…

Cahoot are going to make me miss out on NR ISA!
getting well annoyed with bloomin Cahoot  decided over the weekend i'd go for the 1 year fixed ISA with Northern Rock for 07/08, so i requested a 'future' transfer to be done from the Cahoot a/c to another bank a/c that i can write a cheque on. Cahoot didn't do the transfer on Tues 10th as originally requested so i…

Transferring previous years plus opening a new ISA for 2007/8
I know a similar question has been asked but I have a few other questions aswell! I'm afraid I need it spelling out! I have a bit less than £6000 in A&L Direct ISA Issue 2 built up from 2005/6 and 2006/7. I believe I can transfer this to a new provider, and leave it there and open a new ISA with a different provider for me…

Should I transfer B&B ISA to NRock?
I have £3000 in a Bradford and Bingley eSavings ISA, this was last years allowance. And then next year doing the same and transferring to the highest rate ISA I…

Advice on my balancing my savings portfolio requested - esp. ISAs
Just wondered what advice MSEs can offer on fund allocation for an ISA investment of £4,000 that I have just made. I have just invested into the Fidelity Moneybuilder Income Fund (tax year 06/07, ISA), on the grounds that it is charge-free, until I decide what other funds to move it to. My risk profile is cautious/low…

CHAPS permitted instead of cheques to transfer-in Cash ISAs
Can CHAPS be used (by prior arrangement with recipient) to transfer-in ISAs from past years? My long-term provider informs me, "In accordance with Inland Revenue regulations transfers must be sent to the new manager, which means that we cannot send the funds by electronic transfer as the new provider will require the…

Quick ISA questions
Morning. Sorry if this is an obvious question, just trying to get my head around it all. I managed to squeeze in opening an ISA on the 28th of March, got £3k in it no worries. My question is now it's past April 5th, do I now have to open a new ISA for this tax years allowance or do I just put another £3k into the one I…

07/08 Fund Predictions...
I (like lots of other people) am just in the process of picking funds for my 07/08 stocks and shares ISA. Just wanted to set up a thread to have some free and frank discussion about where to find the best potential in the coming year. A little bit more about my situation. Thus far I have been quite a cautious investor,…

S&S ISA of £4,000 minus £20 Duty & £40 commission
What amount of commission would Hargreaves Lansdown keep from a £4,000 Mini S&S ISA taken out online (not via phone) for purchase of shares in one company? Is it true this would be 1% (say £40)? Or is T+C 13.1 relevant, where it states: "commission per deal... £4000-£19999 = £24.95"? Also, can a full £4,000 be invested in…

another stupid cash isa question...
...i opened up a nationwide cash isa (of £3000) in march 28th 2007. it was a fixed rate and i was told that i needed to decide whether i wished the rate to be fixed for one or two years. i opted for the latter (two year fix). my question is: can i still open up a new cash isa of £3000 from today (9th april). it seems…

Investing directly with fund managers - can I change?
Hi, I currently have PEPs and ISAs held directly with the following fund managers: - Gartmore (PEP) - Invesco Perpetual (PEP) - New Star (ISA) Obviously this means that I am restricted to holding monies in the individual funds available from these companies. I've have recently (through this site) latched on to the idea…
