'ISA Newbie' - Questions
OK stupid questions coming... I know nothing about ISA's but I was looking on the Halifax website and they have this 'ISA Saver Direct' thingie Is this like a savings account? Can I pay in a few pounds each week? (maybe £2 one week and £6 the next) until my account reaches £3k? I'm thinking of opening one this week as I'm…

Paying into a third-party's ISA
Hello all, My first post here so be gentle please! I consider myself pretty well clued-up on ISAs, however, there is one aspect which is puzzling me. If I subscribe to a mini cash ISA held by myself in a given tax year, I know that I cannot subscribe to another ISA of the same type in the same tax year, but does that mean…

ISA withdrawal gone tits up! Need help moving
Last month I decided to open a Mini Cash ISA with Lloyds TSB as I had around £1k collecting dust and thought it would be wise investing this in a savings account. My account was opened on the 2nd March 2007 with this £1000 being my deposit. A couple of weeks later I decided I needed to upgrade my PC, but didn't have enough…

Withdrawing ISA money
Hi, I am having to withdraw my full ISA allowance from the NS&I ISA to fund the purchase of a car. If I withdraw i.e. simply do a transfer of the full balance to my account will this affect this years (2007 - 2008) ISA amount? Will I still have £3000 left this year to save under the ISA rules? Thanks,

Transfering to a new ISA and opening a further new ISA in the same tax year

Barclays: topping up
For those of us 2006-7 applicants fortunate enough to have received our welcome packs from Barclays, I was wondering what MoneySavers are doing regarding topping up for 2007-8. Obviously, I want to maximize interest. There’s an ISA paying-in slip and prepaid 1st class envelope to Barclays Savings, Leicester. The slip says,…

Cash ISA Confusion on how much interest is tax free
getting confused on how much interest is tax free. Ok imagine I have a cash isa for 06/07 for £3000. Comes up to 07/08 financial year so I put another £3000 into another cash isa. Does that mean I have interest from (1) £3000 (from 06/07) and £3000 (from 07/08) that is tax free?? Or does it mean the £3000 i invested into a…

However I also have a NS&I ISA, which looks to me very professional without any catch. NS&I has a guaranteed rate of 0.55% over the base rate while EGG only guaranty paying at least as much.…
