Removal of wood varnish
Hi, I need to remove what looks like layers of wood varnish from interior doors and skirting. These doors are decades old and seem in quite good condition. What would be the best way of doing this? Thank you.

Combi hot water or Kitchen instant hot water - on water meter.
New kitchen being installed with a Dishwasher. Have the feeling this is going to be extremely hard to work out but here you go..... The pipe run from the combi bolier to the kitchen tap is 11 meters. We are on a water meter. Would it be cheaper running cost to have an electric hot water heater under the kitchen tap or…

Where to buy good price wooden venetian blinds? (online or North London)
Hi, I need a rather wide venetian blind for my living room (220cm). Has anyone any recommendations of companies to use for this? I'm interested in either a home fitting service or made to measure, as I can wait a bit for some DIY help to put them up. I've got a consultation with Hillaries next week but imagine they would…

Online bathroom comps - are there any good ones?
I'm after a new bath and have seen a couple I fancy on line, but I'm finding really s**t reviews and REALLY poor customer relations on quite a few of these companies. Anyone with any good reports?

Help dealing with a nasty neighbour and boundary issue
Hi everyone I hope you can help. There is a small wall running between my house and my next door neighbours house. On my side of the wall, in my garden I have a fence, which is attached to the wall (on my side with brackets). During the recent storms, two fence panels have blown down, which leaves both our properties wide…

Trying to find white tiles 13x13cm
We are retiling a bathroom. On the wall we are planning to use some Delft tiles with pictures on, surrounded by white tiles. Ideas for storage above stairs
I've just removed the ugly cupboard that was over the stairs. My thinking is/was to have a big wardrobe spanning from the left hand wall to the far side of where the cupboard was. It's approx 2.5metres wide. There would be probably 4 sliding doors floor to ceiling (the middle two being mirrored). I was then going to…

Is it wrong to replace wood with laminate?
Currently have varnished floorboards through most of the flat. They look good from far, but in reality lots broken, big and varying gaps, big hollow space underneath, lots of sound, wind, dust comes up. I'm thinking of replacing with underlay and some kind of high quality wood effect vinyl/laminate. Is this a mistake? A…

concrete OVER suspended timber floor
The lack of correct google hits suggests this isn't the done thing. And yet it's been done...I have about an inch of concrete on a membrane on floorboards in my kitchen. This might be ok in general some times. But I think the situation might extend to where the Rayburn is stacked. I haven't lifted the surrounding…

roof lanterns...again
Apologies for the duplication. I have asked about this subject before. Really stuck on which supplier to use for a large (3x2m) lantern for a kitchen extension. Prime concern is keeping warmth in. Its north facing so too hot in summer not an issue. I like the look of http://www.reflexglass.co.uk/lanterns.php, they do a…
