Have you bought hardwood flooring online?
I'm looking about for hardwood flooring and was hoping I could get a good deal online. I've saw quite a few decent offers but I'd rather go with a company that someone could recommend. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance? HOTS

Adding a dishwasher to kitchen
I'm considering adding a slimline dishwasher to my kitchen. There is a double cupboard under the sink which I don't really use, so I could easily lose one half of the cupboard as dishwasher space. My question, as an inexperienced 'non-DIYer' is who should I be asking to prepare the space by adding in pipework, adapting the…

Dishwasher Question
Just a bought a new slimline dishwasher and am having difficulty fitting it into the required space. The plastic top of the dishwasher at the back extends about 2" past the end of the dishwasher meaning it sticks out the front of the cupboard. Can the plastic top of the dishwasher be used without the plastic top? If not…

Fencelife for decking?
Hi. I have been using Ronseal Fencelife just lately - it is fantastic and on offer at the mo. However Their decking stain which I used recently is (in my opinion) rubbish. This may be a silly question but - why can't I use the fencelofe on decking? The tin says not.

How to find out bolt size for replacement nut?
Hi - if anyone could help I'd be grateful. Have a garden table that has bolts through the legs. They were fastened on the back by these things that bit into the wood when you tightened up the bolt with an allen key. However one of these biting things has come off and we have lost it. The bolt is threaded so I am assuming I…

Had some plastering done, but need advice
I have just had all the walls in my house skimmed (I think that is the term) as the previous owners really liked artex (ceilings, walls). Yesterday I wanted to start painting but I'm not sure if the finish of the plastering is as it should be. There are nicks out of the plaster, splashes of plaster (little lumps) on the…

Any Point Paying Part of Windows Deposit by Credit Card?
Hi folks. Windows installation companies offer an insurance backed 10 year guarantee on their products, but the insurance seems to be valid only if the installation company folds. Do people therefore pay part of the deposit by credit card, incurring an additional 3% or so on that amount, in order to get additional cover…

Which electrics/sockets are worth putting in at build stage?
Hi. I'm having some work done and its been mentioned about the option of having extra cabling and sockets put in for networks, aerials etc. Now initially I am sceptical because a lot of technology seems to become obsolete very quickly. Wireless seems to cater for a lot of needs aswell. Anyone got anything that has been…

Cooker Hood part
I have a cooker hood which, according to the booklet, can either vent outdoor or recirculate the air. When I moved in it was recirculating and pretty ineffectively too. A friend suggested converting it to outdoor ventilation and therefore this formed part of the instructions to the electrician I got in to do a range of…

Cracked plaster
Well I thought I would appeal to anyone for help on here as to be honest I do not know what to do. We bought a semi detached house a good few years ago. The house was built in the early 1960's and is of normal brick construction. The person we bought it off was an elderly lady and she had only painted the walls since it…

Compostable Bin Liners
Hello, This is my 1st post so apologies if I'm posting it in the wrong place. We've just been given kitchen caddies by our local council that use biodegradable cornstarch liners. Problem is, these are 10p each! I've searched in the usual places (ebay, google search etc) but they are all about the same when you add the item…

Am I making this up? (double glazing)
I'm sure I've seen on some double glazed units the ability to open a window, say halfway, and then push the handle down to lock it in place so it can't open further or close? I wanted these for my cats and explained why to the installer before I signed on the dotted line, however I can't see how this works! Thought I'd…

Boilermate efficient or wasteful?
I have a boilermate hot water/central heating system. (You will know if you have one) Thing is, it keeps topping up the hot water with a brief boiler run...even in this very hot weather and with hardly any domestic hot water usage other than at peak times. The airing cupboard is also very hot even with the pipework…
