cleaning washing machine filters
Just wanting to make sure I don't encounter more water than necessary..... machine in question is a Bosch WFB 2004. Sadly, according to the instruction book, said filter lives at the back of the machine in the water inlet hose rather than in the comfy front access panel that everybody else seems to have  . A couple of…

Aluminium Frames...Any Value?
I am thinking of replacing aluminium windows for double glazing shortly, and as I am on a VERY tight budget was wondering if there was any value in the windows to be removed, they are in good condition with key locks, and if so where/how would I go about advertising them? I realise its probably a very silly question, but…

AEG Fridge/Freezer complaint?
Just under two years ago I bought a very large AEG Santo Fridge/Freezer from Currys. I paid about £800 for this item - but it was just what I wanted and fitted into my kitchen perfectly. At the weekend the digital readout for the fridge part has started to show a 0 instead of the temperature. It had a 12 months…

Kenwood Cooker - Can Anybody Recommend?
I am in the process of looking to purchase a new cooker (after many, many years!). I have seen a Kenwood gas range cooker/splashback/hood and although it's a bit pricey, I have done a search on pricerunner only to find that Curry's are the only one who seem to stock it. Does anybody have a Kenwood cooker - and would they…

Static Shocks in high-rise flats
Hello, :hello: My godmother lives in a high-rise block of flats in N.Wales but since workmen renewed the piping to Copper, previously plastic, she's been suffering from awful shocks when she touches anything in the kitchen like hob or kettle, fridge handle, window. Also the radiator in the hall. She's the only one in the…

Affordable Ovenproof Frying Pans
I'm after some frying pans that I can use both on an electric hob, then pop in the oven for further cooking. I guess 180C wouldn't be a high enough tolerance - some pans that can withstand up to 260C would be better. I see the Soho and Jamie Oliver ranges that Tefal do - they look ok - but are they the cheapest available?…

Electric meter started buzzing
The electric meter for our house is in a corner of the livingroom. I noticed tues night that it has started humming or buzzing, which it wasn't doing for the previous 2 weeks (we've only been in the house that long). Is this something I should be concerned about? (other than it's going to annoy any guests on the sofabed).…

Creaking Floors
The floors in all our upstairs rooms creak something awful when walked on. It's large pieces of chipboard flooring - not floorboards. I'm thinking of laying new carpets soon, so think this might be an opportunity to get it sorted. Is there anything we can do to stop the creaking.

Paddling past the washing machine today ...
... :undecided: ... once I'd stopped sloshing about, I peered behind the back to see if I can gauge where all the water had come from :( :( The out pipe is sitting merrily in the out pipe pipe bit. The water pipe connectors are nice and tight fitting (pretty blue and red respectively!). So, I am now completely  over…
