Capital Gains Tax on BTL Rental Sale
Am I right in thinking the tax is paid on sale price, minus purchase price, minus capital gains tax allowance. So for example, bought 150k, sold 200k after 10 years of, tax on 50k minus capital tax allowance of 12.3k. So tax on 37.7k. But then you can also deduct costs associated with the sale, estate agents/solicitors etc…

Ridiculous listing prices
Is it just Nottingham or are houses being listed over the odds everywhere at the moment? I know there are fewer listings at the moment so it’s a sellers market but they’re being listed for more than in the stamp duty holiday.

Is an accepted claim under a Premier Guarantee transferable to new owner?
So I'm close to completion on a house built in 2015 where a claim was made on the Premier Guarantee around 2016-17, within the 2 year defects period. That remedial work was booked in for March this year but the owner decided to sell before starting the work. If I buy this house, as I understand it the Premier Guarantee is…

We have a prescriptive easement (made in 2006 by Statutory Declaration) over unregistered land, owner unknown. It is registered on our Title Deed with the Land Registry. Asbestos missed in RICS building survey
Hi, I had a RICS building survey (June 2018) on our house that viewed the electrics as "a poor installation and may not necessarily have been provided by a competent electrician" but did not mention anything about asbestos even though the report acknowledged a converted garage. When getting the house rewired (January 2019)…

My partner and I are looking to buy a house together to move into. He currently owns a property that he's wanting to rent out when we move. I don't own a property. My question is, would we need to pay the 3% stamp duty for a second home if only one if us owns another property?
