First time buyer anxiety
Hi, I'm in the process of buying my 1st home, early days but my offer was accepted on Friday. Now all I've done since is panic! It sounds daft but it's around 30 minutes from where I currently live (I can't afford to buy round here) and will be a 35 min commute to work. Did anyone else start to feel like this when they…

Part Owner Of House Rights
My father passed away in 2010. As him and my mother were divorced at this time, his 50% share of the property (no mortgage) was divided equally through probate, between my 3 siblings and I (12.5% share each). My brother wanted to cash in his share immediately, so my mother bought him out and now owns 62.5% of the property.…

Some advice please
Hi all I’m in a tricky situation and could really do with some advice as I don’t know what to do for the best! I’m in my 30s living at home with my mother in the south east of England. She owns 1/3rd of a property; the other 2/3 is owned by a ‘family’ member – more on that later. To cut a long story short, she is now an…

Letting agent fees (tenant side) - room to negotiate?
Hi Folks, Quick question. In London, I am in the processing of finding a new flat and one has come up, which is managed by Hamptons. I have read that Hamptons will want to charge me in the region of £450 - 500 for tasks such as screening, letting agreement, inventory etc. I find this preposterous to be frank, and wondering…

Leak in rented house, landlord wojt call emergency plumber, and where do I stand with time off?
While showering the kids this evening, our neighhour knocked on the door to say that water was leaking from the alley between the houses. reasonable offer?
I'm thinking of making an offer on a house that's been on the market for some time now. During that time, (6 months) its been dropped in price from 765000 to 740000 and then in late Nov to 695000. I know that the vendors have split up and this seems to be the reason for the sale (which fell through once due to the…

New build part-ex negotiations
Hi, We're vaguely interested in part-exchanging our 4-yr old house for a new build nearby. Builder has valued my house at slightly less than we would expect it to sell for (based on sales figure of identical house on estate a few months ago). So we rejected the offer and thought no more of it as we don't *need* to move and…
