Advice on legal charge on property
I'm just after some advice for a friend who is lending money towards a house purchase for his son and daughter in law + kids. The house would be in the sons name only but his solicitor has advised to put a legal charge on the property to avoid it being sold without the father's consent or until the loan amount had been…

Land Registry House Price Data
Does it not get updated monthly and released anymore? The list on RightMove hasn't been updated since April and can I heck find it on Land Registry's website these days. It appears to be a mumble jumble mess with various parts built across different old and new platforms.

Hi, looking for some help or advice. Bought 1 bedroom flat at height of property boom for £78000. After about 5 years it was clear structural repairs were needed to building, made up of 9 flats. After years of struggling with fellow owners to agree on repairs it seems they are going to cost around £20000. We are desperate…

Should we have an environmental search done?
Just wondering what exactly this brings up and if it's worth having done? Our solicitors would charge £50 for this. Our lender doesn't insist we have it. Happy to provide more info as requested :)

Access to property by landlord
Hi all, my landlord wants to get the flat remortgaged and needs to get people in for a survey. On the date he wants to do it I will not be home, so I told I couldn't be there. Buying a flat with a 58 year lease
I'm a FTB so I would need a mortgage. I've seen a flat I like but it only has 58 years left on the lease. If I offered extra for the owner to extend as part of my offer would this be an easy enough thing for him to sort out? Or would I be entering a legal headache as I've heard lease extensions can be a nightmare depending…

shared equity .... that's a con right ?
My son is looking for his first house in an expensive part of the northwest. He works near Alderly Edge, so nearest towns are Knutsford, Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Congelton. Obviously his budget is a bit tight, but I was looking on right move and came across a nice newish 3 bed semi, being sold at £82K for a 50% share. So…

Costs of renovation?
We're looking at a small early 30s semi detached. My standards are not enormously high, I've never had the good fortune or deep pockets to own something that looks fabulous :) However even I balk at this kitchen so we need a new one, and a new cooker. Probably about 8 floor cupboards and maybe 5 or 6 wall cupboards. The…
