Court of Protection....what problems can I expect
Hi all I've made an offer on a property, which the family members, have accepted, where the lady owner has gone into care and agents tell me they are awaiting response from Court of Protection. I've not been involved in this side of things before, so any hints as to how things will progress, or be delayed, or need to be…

Loan for stamp duty
Hi All, Before anyone says it, I *have* searched the forum and tried to find an answer, but can't find a definitive answer to this one... Are you legally *allowed* to borrow money for stamp duty? I'm not asking if it's a good idea...I well understand the reasons people think it's a bad idea. I'd borrow the money from…

Rent dispute
Good evening. I have just left a property and have been told that I owe some rent on it. I have lived there for 12 years and have had a S.O. running for 9 or so years. I have paid my rent on the 19th of every month from the start. I have always received an invoice for this around the 15th and would just check the amount…

Buying non standard construction house
I am considering buying a Parkinson Frame House. The seller has applied for a retrospective PCR. The estate agent assures me that getting a mortgage on the house would not be a problem. I intend to pay cash but would like the reassurance of knowing that when I sell the house it would be mortgageable. Can I trust the Estate…

Moving in checklist
I am sorry if this has been posted before (I expect it has) but does anyone have a good list of things to do on the day of moving in? We get the keys next week. Also, will the vendor usually leave details of things like their electricity and gas supplier, the codes for the alarm etc?

£3,800 buying fees for my £190k flat?
I just had my offer accepted for a £190k flat (leasehold) and the estate agency's solicitor called me to offer their services for £3,800 total all-in. That's inclusive of the 1% stamp duty. So that leaves £1,900 for Land Registry searches, legal fees etc. Does that seem about right?

Who asks what?
I am in the course of buying a flat. I have taken steps to check the lease but. Would appreciate some advice on some of the other things I need to check. Deposit Return - No Cert
Related to my earlier thread, that I'm not allowed to post links for :) Considering my LL has never given us a deposit protection cert, and that financially speaking rent and deposit are entirely separate things and I'm unlikely to get an agreement from him to use the deposit as part-payment for last months rent, how much…

Advice needed - outgoings/incomings as an owner of rental property
We are 1/4 owners of a house that was passed down through a will. For info - upon eventual sale our 1/4 would then be split 3 ways, currently any monies received through rent for our 1/4 are split in the same way. The house is currently being rented privately and we think it is being rented at below market value. The…
