Discounts on new builds..
I'm a first time buyer and mainly interested in new builds. Do they normally offer any sort of discount on the purchase price or is there any negotiation involved? I've checked the developer website and they don't do any contributions or anything just help to buy.

Can you reserve a property available right now?
Hello, So I am looking to rent my first house and had a question. If a property is available on the market, is it possible to reserve it to move in at a latter time? I come from France where this is something everyone does but I'm not sure if it is possible to do this in the UK. Thank you.

ANOTHER Indemnity Insurance Query
About to exchange but last minute issues have arisen over BR approval (or lack of) in the house we are buying..... I get that case law says that building regulations enforcement have no time limit, and that a solution is that someone buys indemnity insurance. I have two queries: 1. What exactly does it indemnify against?…

Over the 2014 Summer (July, August and September) I will need somewhere to stay - either a 1 bed-roomed flat or a studio flat (or it might yet be June, July and August). Is it worth DIY painting a flat?
How long should it take one person to paint a 2 bedroom flat? If I can get it done in a weekend - even a 3 day weekend - that's one thing, but if it's going to be a multi-week ordeal for this inexperienced decorator, maybe I'm making a mistake not getting the professionals in... It's empty now so I don't need to shuffle…

First time buyer vertical cracks in exterior brick wall

Lodger room arrangements in a flat - workable?
I'm considering getting a lodger in a 2 bedroom flat, and I'm wondering whether the room arrangements I'm thinking of are likely to work out. One bedroom is pretty small, the other larger. The two bedrooms are next to each other and I don't really want to share a wall. Also I want a room of a reasonable size that I can use…
