Want house left empty by old lady who is in care.
There is a house we would love to buy and know that the old lady who lives here has been taken into care. Is there a process we can go to in order to make an approach to buy it. We understand from neighbours that she has been taken into care and will not be coming home. any help would be great C

Giving honest feedback to a vendor
Yesterday I viewed a house that I found via housenetwork.co.uk, and today I received an automated email from them asking for feedback. As far as I can tell the vendor will be able to view the direct feedback that I enter, rather than it been passed on by an agent (who might perhaps reword and sugercoat it). I have never…

Stamp duty
Hypothetically. If a property is on the market for, say, £127K and a lower offer has been made (from a non-first time buyer) and accepted by the vendor of, £124K plus an agreement to pay £1500 for specified kitchen equipment, drapes and electrical fixtures and fittings. Would this sale: 1. escape stamp duty 2. be legal If…

Stuck because we can't sell our house. There must be a solution, please help.
My partner and I currently are living together in my one bedroom bachelor pad. We are very keen to move to somewhere bigger so I have been trying (without success) to sell my place for around six months now. We are fortunate because I don't have a mortgage on my place and between us we have around 90k in savings. However,…

Need advice please
My wife just passed away. She owned a house and didn't make a will. She wanted this house to go to her two sons and I am happy with that, but she wanted them not to be able to sell the house until they are 30. There is a mortgage and a mortgage life insurance that hopefully will pay for it. Anyone could advise me how to go…

In that stressy in between time;
We have been on the market for two years, it's a business as well as a residence - and we accepted a (low) offer at the beginning of April from someone who we had been talking to and providing accounts to for a month or so. We have found, and put in an accepted offer on the house we want - we have the survey from a…

Unexpectedly being given notice.... help!
Hello all :) My landlord has posted a note through my door giving me two months notice to get out of the house! I'm in a periodic tenancy, so I know two months notice can be given, but it's come as a shock as last time we spoke, he was saying how he hoped we'd be in the property for years to come. We've never given any…

Lost house due to lying agent. Next step?
To cut a long story short, I've spent around £800 on solicitor fees and survey reports for a buy-to-let house I was purchasing. It's a reposession and we were nearly at the stage to exchange contracts when I discovered from a neighbour that the estate agent had lied about a part of the property and I rang him. The agent…

No DSS, private renting and advice.
I will keep this simple. Family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) having to relocate from the Midlands to Dartford ASAP to be with family. We currently live in LA housing. We have applied to Dartford local council via home choice but understand that to move we will have to rent private. Have been ringing around tons of estate…
