Council Tax Help.
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone can help me. If a property is now vacant and up for sale, who is responsible for paying the Council Tax, is it the person that lived there or the deed owner. Cheers

Estate Agents - bad practice
I've been looking to buy a cheapie for the last few months. Quite a few times, I've been told by Estate Agents that I can't view or even make an offer, because someone else has 'already offered'. Note that I am NOT referring to a situation where a firm offer has been made and equally firmly accepted, merely to a situation…

Out of date HIP
Hello, we have just had an offer accepted on a house. The HIP is dated 27th May, and although our solicitor (Beaumont Legal) only advises having new searches done if it is 12 months out of date, other people seem to say 6 months. Can anyone advise? Should we get a new search done anyway? Thanks

Capital Gains Tax (how can I avoid it?)
I want to invest an inheritance in a house that my son will live in whilst he is at university. My son will only need the house for three years, after which he will doubtless get work somewhere else in the country, and so I would then want to sell-up and re-invest in property in my home town. My question is this: if…

Renting - Water pressure commonly too low for electric shower
In my flat I have an electric shower. When the water pressure in the flat goes too low, the shower will refuse to heat up the water and will become freezing (and if the pressure is in between "OK" and "too low", the shower will become very very hot). The problem is not the shower; when this happens the pressure in ALL taps…

Estate Agency Letting (Admin) Fees
My daughter, her boyfriend and I recently viewed an appartment and the agency asked for £175 - this was for, as she advised, a holding fee on the appartment and admin fees (for references and contract).
