Gas & Electric in my soon-to-be-rented-out house
Advice please! I'm about to rent out my house for the first time (to my brother for at least the first 3 months) and will also come off the Scottish Power fixed rate deal on 30th Sept. I'm not sure if they're going to try and sign me in for another year (might have had a letter, but had lots going on moving house so might…

moving house question
we bought our house in 2001 and currently owe 50k on it, however, if we sell now it would probably bring around the 150k mark.... my question is that is we sell our house now for 150k and then pay back the mortgage of 50k then, as i see it, we have 100k to put down on our next house.... if we then buy a house for 200k and…

Then on the 1st July two of us went to get our keys and sign an agreement that we were happy with the property ect, the property was dirty and several…

Any experience of Complete / Withy King for conveyancing?
Has anyone else used these solicitors for conveyancing on a property purchase? If so, what was your experience of them? I chose them because I was in a rush 3-4 weeks ago and they were recommended by my mortgage broker (mortgage lender vetoed my first and second choice of conveyancer and seller was apparently threatening…

New home survey - do I have any come back?
I moved home 2 months ago and paid extra to get the full homebuyers report which graded both the heating and hot water systems and the water and plumbing and the central heating as 1 (the highest available meaning that no immediate repair or replacement is necessary). The report does say "although i have not carried out…

Renegotiating after survey - Help Please!!!
We had an offer accepted on a property at 192,500. The survey has been completed and the surveyor has suggested that the valve of the property is 190,500. This is due to a number of issues being highlighted. I expected this, as it is an old terrace house, which you would expect some wear and tear, electrical problems etc.…

What can I do about a ludicrous valuation of our property
I'm in the process of trying to remortgage our property. I went to an estate agent for a valuation who came back at £189,000 (which was slightly higher than expected). I applied for a £110,000 mortgage paying for the valuation etc (ie borrowing slightly less than 60%) mortgage company willing to lend 70%! I've just…

Can I sue the Landlord for not putting my deposit in scheme?
Hi All I have had awful problems with my ex-Landlord/Agent. To cut a really long story short, they have deducted £450 out of the £750 bond for carpets smelling of cigarette smoke! My late father came to live with us and was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer and died whilst we were at the property. As my father smoked and it…

FTB - what can I expect survey to tell me?
I'm a FTB in the process of buying a property which is about 90 years old. The current owner has completely refurbished the interior, including the windows, but it looks as if the roof is still original (and obviously the walls I guess!). How much info can I expect to get from the survey? e.g. will it tell me that the roof…

Tenants v holiday let
My parents are currently renting a property to tenants. part exchange on new-build
2 bed semi apparently is worth too much to exchange for 4 bed detached:eek: as they want 30% differential in the prices. It means upping to a house that's bigger/more expensive than we wanted and therefore having to increase mortgage payments beyond what's affordable. But with a baby on the way we need away from noisy…
